dd has a paper round. She had friday, monday and tuesday off because we were away and we notified the shop in plenty of time and they knew she would return today.
However when she got there this morning, someone else had takne her papers and done her round.

I think she should be paid, half at least, it wasnt her fault, she turned up.
dd says she shouldnt.

Whats the MN verdict??

Did she turn up at the normal time, or later than expected?

if the shop knew that your DD would be returning to work today then she should be paid. the end

mosschops30 · 05/01/2011 20:11

she arrived at the normal time at about 6.30am

Hmm, then that's not on. What did the shop say?

mosschops30 · 05/01/2011 20:15

just that the manager had already taken her papers so then she cycled home. I was pissed off but she didnt care Smile

My three DC have/have had paper rounds. I agree with she should really be paid for today, but at the moment in our area paper rounds are quite hard to come by, with no-one leaving and ime if you upset the manager you will be right at the top of the list as first to go or if anything goes wrong with the paper round she will be in big trouble.

You are morally right, but pragmatically I would just leave it.

It's not like it used to be in my day!

Do the shop know that legally she cannot start work until 7am?

Oh and she should be paid she turned up not her fault that someone took her round.
