There are a lot of people with disinherited ancestors - my 7x great-grandmother was the daughter of a baronet and she and her sister both eloped to Gretna Green with commoners and were written out of the will - or more insultingly, each left a shilling in the will for "marrying without consent and much beneath them."

I am also loosely related to Sir John Wilkes who brought in freedom of speech for the press and was almost beheaded in the tower of London and later became the Mayor of London.

  3. I have a single long hair that keeps growing on one shoulder. Even if I pluck it out, it will grow back again. It can grow to about 8cm!
toxshock74 · 05/01/2011 15:44

I should say that what really makes hearing my grandmother weirder than just being dead is that she couldn't speak english, only Maltese and I don't speak Maltese, and she died when I was 2, so I don't actually remember her.

Malificence · 05/01/2011 15:46

Yasmin le Bon stole my DD's name before she was born, forcing me to change her middle name. (not really, we've never met, but that's what it feels like, as her DD was born a few days before mine and she called her DD the exact names I wanted).

I wanted to be a forensic pathologist all through senior school - I actually got accepted into the police but I chickened out at the last minute and went on a YTS at college instead.

People always ask if DD has a German passport because she was born in Germany - she was born in a British military hospital on a military base so it's classed as the UK.

Clueless re. the Duke of Sutherland connection - my GGrandfather was Head coachman for the Duke and Duchess at their Trentham estate.

SummerRain · 05/01/2011 15:48

actually, can i be rude an do 3 more? reading some of the above has reminded me of some!

i was driven home from a party by an a list celebrity once.. he stopped at a garage on the way and bought his mother a box of chocolates. I avoided his come on as i hadn't slept in over 2 days and had work in 3 hours and was too tired!

I have an IQ of 150.... haven't done a god damn thing with my life though

I broke my ear at age 3 (never heard of anyone else who managed to break an ear!)

Well, all my rellies married who they were told to marry, and as a consequence my 3x great grandfather pops up occasionally in Georgette Heyer novels and other novels/TV stuff on the Regency era. Jolly spiffing, what?

Vintage and Condition Thank you SO much for the link to the nuclear thread, looks like it was made for me. I shall peruse later when I have time!

Malificence · 05/01/2011 15:50

Iwilldothis - I have one of those weird shoulder hairs, it's bright blonde and very thick, which is weird because I'm very dark haired.
DH has one that grows right in the middle of his forehead, sometimes it's dark, sometimes it's white and it has even been red!

mmmmmbuttons · 05/01/2011 15:50

My husband is now my ex wife.
I had 14 lots of fertility treatment (unsuccessful)then three 'accidental' pregnancies 13, 15 and 18 years later.
I have tried and tried to eat enough chocolate that it makes me physically sick, unfortunately it never has, so I'll just keep trying

PortBlacksand · 05/01/2011 15:53
