Can I have another go?
I was once locked in the loo by a ghost,
I have seen a tornado, (in Essex) it was awesome!
I once got a round of applause from a room full of famous footballers!

UntitledNo2 · 06/01/2011 01:11

This is fascinating! Smile

Okay, I have met all four members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (before JF left for the second time) on several occasions, and have been backstage at a number of their gigs.

I have quite a few tattoos. The most memorable being one I had done in a county where I didn't speak a word of the language, and the tattooist spoke no English. The whole tattoo was planned and executed through gestures and sketches.

I have been in parts of the Vatican which are wholly off limits to the general public.

Boats out of water freak me out. As in, boats on dry land, with their full 'underbellies' exposed. They give me the chills big time.

Grin

This thread is great. Funny, weird and very interesting things happen to people.

  1. My worst fear is being abducted by aliens.
  1. My family escape to England to avoid having their heads cut off during the Revolution and became part of the working class. I have a book that records over 300 years of my family tree.
  1. I keyed a strangers car in a grocery store parking lot cause of the shite way they parked; I was 8 months pregnant and had to climb over the passenger side to the drivers seat. I'm not proud and am still waiting for karma on that one.
MrsSnaplegs · 06/01/2011 02:31
  1. I was a member of Mensa at 15 with an IQ of 178. I have never reached my full potential. Grin
  2. I have phobias of birds, clowns, ladybirds and escalators.
  3. I haven't been able to drive a car for nearly 4 years as it feels as if car is falling off road when I drive.
spamm · 06/01/2011 03:09

Love this thread!

  1. I once watched tv with Audrey Hepburn when i was about 19
  1. My family built a castle in the middle of Africa, which I have not visited since I was a child
  1. I used to see a ghost of a little boy regularly in our old house in the UK, despite the fact that I have never really believed in ghosts
kickassangel · 06/01/2011 03:50
  1. i sometimes have dreams so vivid that i wake up not knowing who i am or where i am.
  1. the 'family tree' goes back to the doomsday book, there's a mention of my ancestors in the OED, and a village, and monument named after them. (not that it's made any difference to me)
  1. i may once have had a near death experience, but i was too hung over, with my walkman going full blast, so don't actually know if it WAS a bullet that whizzed past my head - the hysterical lady next to me said it was.
babeinthewood · 06/01/2011 03:55

pmsl kick ass!!!

  1. I suffer from insomnia and sometimes the only way to kick my system back into shape is to stay awake all night.
  1. I am related to a famous poet
  1. I am TERRIBLE at keeping the house tidy
kickassangel · 06/01/2011 04:11

i feel quite embarrassed that i just didn't notice what happened - i was on a train, there was a loud noise (which i heard even through the walkman), and the window right next to my head had a perfect round hole in it - i had been leaning forward, otherwise, whatever it was, would have gone right into my head.

it caused great consternation to everyone on the train carriage, except me. i was more upset, that having got FOUR seats and a table to myself, the guard roped that bit off & made me move.

it is quite likely that the hangover & loud music were the reason for me being by myself.

  1. I am in line to the throne of a European country (but a lot of people have to die so I will never be Queen :().
  1. I have synaethesia and cannot watch Fantasia because it's WRONG
  1. My hair used to be so long I could sit on the end of my plait.
GotArt · 06/01/2011 05:32

I should say that it was the French Revolution... it doesn't make sense otherwise.

kiss Holy crap! Lucky you!

Gold I had to look up synaethesia... I think I may have it too but I love Fantasia... but find that some parts don't quite hit the mark right. Certain sounds don't correspond to the shapes and colours they project on the movie.

Can I add a fourth to my list... I obsessively research a wee bit when I learn of something new. Grin

MyBrainIsOutOfTune · 06/01/2011 06:13
  1. Whenever the dog is showing interest in heaps of dead leaves, I'm afraid that she has found a body.

  2. I once was invited to a tv-show, but said no because I thought it was too low-brow [really, really stuck-up teenageremoticon]

  3. 3 times in my life I've instinctively felt that I had to get to know a certain person because they would somehow become important to me. I'm the shyest person in the world and never talk to strangers or people that I barely know, but these three I actively sought out. They've all become soulmates in one way or another - one of them is my DH.

TyraG · 06/01/2011 07:47

According to my father we are descended from Malcolm I

In my mid-twenties I contracted Typhoid Fever and was told that if I hadn't gotten to the doctor when I did, my body would have shut down.

I once dated the nephew of a famous director/producer.

crumbletastic · 06/01/2011 08:47

Love this thread, I'm going again.

1.I have a 1 inch scar on my right nipple form bing bit by an old english sheep dog. My nipple tore open and I coud see the fat and ducts inside and needed stitches to close it.

  1. I am slighly obsessed with caravans, barges and airplane food. I think its amazing that they are well thought out and they manage to squeeze so much into such a small space.
  1. I have no middle name and felt so left out as a child at school that I made up 3 stupid ones and carried on the pretence right through to secondary school.
frozenfestiveflo · 06/01/2011 09:05

I have been to Top Gear and all 3 are very very nice :)

I was propositioned by a French International Rugby player and he was very persistant!

I have no middle name and decided as a tot that I would have one and it would be Susan!

NormaSknockers · 06/01/2011 09:16

I have a very large tattoo on my back.

I've spoken to Dean Gaffney on the phone.

I am facinated by the Titanic and the conspiracy theories.

Mibby · 06/01/2011 09:24

I have a genetic condition which means I cant tolerate general anaesthetics

The front of my eyeballs are so flat I shouldn't be able to wear contact lenses, I have been examined by several consultant opthalmologists (sp?) and eye surgeons and they all agree. I have worn lenses since I was 18

DH and I conceived our DD naturally despite being told it was unlikely following his orchidectomy (sp?) and chemotherapy

TheBeast · 06/01/2011 09:40
  1. I wrote a poem when I was 16 which has been published in a magazine and two separate anthologies (along with proper poets) with a line from the poem being used as the title for one of the anthologies. The latest anthology was published last year, over 40 years since the poem was written.
  1. I was a kleptomaniac until I was caught by a shopkeeper when I was 16. I became obsessively honest overnight.
  1. My stomach is being surgically removed at the end of the month.
thisishowifeel · 06/01/2011 09:52

I won a TV talent show.

I met Ken Dodd once and he reminded me of a bird of prey, scanning the room for his next attack....frightened the living daylights out of me, so I totally understand the phobia thing!

Stephanie Beecham trod on my coat in a muddy field. Cow.

Limelight · 06/01/2011 09:53

Wow! What an interesting bunch you are! Ok, so here are my (very pedestrian) ones:

  1. I once had an entire conversation with Billy Connelly without knowing who he was. I thought he was someone I vaguely knew from university or something. He must have thought I was barking.
  1. My Great Grandfather died when he drank too much and threw himself under a tram, leaving his wfe and children destitute. My Grandma retained a fear of being put 'in the workhouse' for the rest of her life. Very Catherine Cookson (location is right and everything!).
  1. I am related by marriage to John Seymour, the man who spearheaded the 'self-sufficiency' movement in the 70s - think Tom and Barbara and the Good Life.
