3 For a while when I was a child we had no telly,I was so bored I read the dictionary, I now have a wide vocabualary but I still can't spell

NutellaIsMyHeroin · 05/01/2011 16:54

This is fascinating - each post brings up so many questions. Here are my three:

I once hitched a lift over the Vietnam/Laos border with opium smugglers, who bought me noodle soup.

When I was a child I used to lie terribly, so that my school friends would accept me and not find out what a fucked up, dysfunctional and poverty- stricken family I came from.

I fear that I will not achieve all the things I know myself to be capable of.

CowWatcher · 05/01/2011 16:55

I too have met the Krankies, in fact Mrs Krankie stole some of my chips. It was a Friday.

ChildofIsis · 05/01/2011 16:56

I love this thread.

I too knew I would marry DH when I 1st laid eyes on him, I was 14 at the time.

I have a double lifeline on my right hand.

I believe in a world of magic and potential, we're all capable of creating a positive life for ourselves. We just need to believe we can, me included!

MrsPennySworth · 05/01/2011 16:58

1)I featured on a series on uk living about 9 years ago with 3 other friends.

2)I've jumped out of a plane.

3)Although I'm proud I've run a marathon myself it's overshadowed by the fact that my husband has run loads of marathons and represented Great Britain in the nineties running steeplechase a few times.

takethatlady · 05/01/2011 17:01

ooh wheredidyoulastseeit I used to read the dictionary too, but not because we didn't have a telly - just because I loved it! Whenever old primary/early secondary school friends get in touch on facebook they always say they knew I'd end up doing the sort of job I do because they always remember me reading the dictionary.

I am a loser Grin

CaveMum · 05/01/2011 17:02

  3. One of my Christmas presents was a beautiful shawl bought from a market somewhere in Afghanistan by my lovely BiL who was working out there last year.

vintageteacups · 05/01/2011 17:09

The export desk I used to work at for a govt dept, used to export race horses for companies in that famous suffolk racing town???? Do you have a really posh voice?

  1. I still sleep with my own baby blankets in my bed.
  1. I once got propositioned by a famous and very much married rock star.
Bathsheba · 05/01/2011 17:12

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dull.

  • I represented Scotland on Going For Gold, the European Quiz Show with Henry Kelly when I was a student
  • I am phobic of flying - I can do it, but not for long and I'd really really prefer not to.
  • When I left school I planned to go to Bible College - that fell through as I couldn't get a grant and in the end I ended up doing a Maths and Economics course at a Poly that I hated when I was 17 and not ready for it at all. I did a year of it, left due to severe depression and took a year to recover at home before going to University when I was 19
missismonky · 05/01/2011 17:12
  1. I slept with a now revered musician when I was 14.
  1. Both my children were conceived during manic phases of my bipolar disorder, I doubt I would ever rationally have thought it was the right time to have children. They have an 18 year age gap.
  1. I am terrified of ostriches, I started crying in my car when I was diverted by police down a road past an ostrich farm.
CaveMum · 05/01/2011 17:14

vintage sadly not! I'm from Bristol originally so sound like a Yokel!

I do live in said famous Suffolk town though!

FlyingDiamondMiner · 05/01/2011 17:31
