Why would anyone want to buy clothing, mousemats and pillows with serial killers such as Hindley,Brady,Ted Bundy,John Wayne Gacy etc on them?

I found a site dedicated to such items, and I really can't understand why anyone would want to walk about with a Myra Hindley bag.

I can understand wanting to read about them,as criminal psychology is a fascinating subject, but this?
They shouldn't be glorified surely. They aren't people to look up to.

PS.I'm no prude and not easily shocked,or perhaps I am.

There are some proper freaks out there....people who are "into" subversive/sick things.

Sadly some people are happy to mke money from this.

chillichill · 05/01/2011 00:15

shock value? unusual? I mean, your hardly going to see lots of others with the same item

LetThereBeRock · 05/01/2011 00:23

I think you're both right,but I still can't understand it.

It's disturbing that there are people out there who worship serial killers, and there's obviously a considerable market out there for Hindley handbags and Ed Gein pillows when one can make a profit from selling such things.

I'd agree with chillichill I've known of a few people who will have stuff like that. Usually desperately trying to stand out.

babeinthewood · 05/01/2011 01:11

yeah sadly there are sickos who will buy this stuff....doesnt make it right though, the government should put a stop to it IMOHmm

Tee2072 · 05/01/2011 06:20

The same people who send marriage proposals to serial killers once the killed is caught and imprisoned. Some people get off on that sort of thing.

Hardly needs censorship. Just don't buy it if you don't like it. Be an adult.

LetThereBeRock · 05/01/2011 10:04

I wouldn't agree with banning these items. I'm just a tad disturbed that people are willing to buy such things, and even more disturbed that they're happy to go around in public wearing them.

How embarassing would it be to propose to a condemned serial killer and then be turned down?

Sorry - being flippant - but yes, there is a strange fascination with 'evil' (although a too-used word). That's why books about Hitler are the most borrowed in libraries. But it really takes it one step too far to have souvenirs of this nature. Not clever.
