..because there is no way we will afford a holiday this year Sad

I have never holidayed and TBH I've never really cared.

I's not the same as saying 'I'm sick of all these adverts for food because there is no way I can afford to eat this year'.

Don't sweat it. Alot of people think that 2-3 foreign holidays a year is normal, but it isn't and I'll bet you that you are not alone and there are many thousands of other people who won't be holidaying this year or next year for that matter.

YANBU, but be thankful for other things.

I'm sick of adverts for new Macbooks and cars because I can't afford those either this year. Hey ho, such is life.

KindleTheSky · 04/01/2011 16:44

YANBU but it will be the same for loads of people. I don't even notice those ads as we never go on holiday.

Just being over sensitive I think as so very skint at the moment and in hole feel can't get out of.

Lots of people here are in the same boat. Just keep talking and you will feel better. Maybe someone in the money section can give you some good advice. Smile

same here likewise ads for the sales recently, assuming everyone has time/money to do the sales esp after the Christmas expenses!

Sympathise ... we won't have had a holiday for 4 years in 2011, and before the last one in 2007, we hadn't had one for 3 years then.

My head tells me that there are loads of people like us - but unfortunately, all the people we are related to or are friends with, still go on holiday at least once a year, always have done, and (appear to) take it for granted. Well .... they don't tire of asking if we're going away this year at any rate. Makes you feel so inadequate, but worse than that, I feel awful for my daughter who's missing out.

I don't even get paid time off as I'm self employed - and as I often do some work 7 days a week, I am desperate for a break. Right now, I'd settle for the "luxury" of a week off just so I can go for walks, read some good books, visit gardens/museums/zoos and so on, but can't even afford to do that.

But there's always been adverts for holidays just after Xmas, and there always will be ..... ho hum.
