For getting pissed off with DP's "over sensitivity"?

Ok this is either me being a bitch or him being a wuss but either way Ive name changed incase im in the wrong its all about DP in bed. If he's dozing off and I speak, he jumps a mile, I mean he literally jumps like someone had just gone mental with a drum kit all of a sudden, even if I whisper, he'll completely over-react and make out that I'd shouted in his ear. It pisses me off because sometimes all I want to do is say something like "did you turn the alarm on?" and he'll jump a mile and start shouting "eh??? what?? what???" I've never known anyone do this. Last night we were laid in bed, just had sex, lights are off, I turn to face him, move towards him slowly to give him a kiss and he jumps a mile (he was awake!!!), moves away quickly and says "what are you doing??? you made me jump" he never kisses me either which pisses me off. Its not normal is it? its like when he gets out of the shower he stands there all crunched over like an old man shivering. He's only 37 ffs.
If it turns out Im right, I'll change my name back to my regular name

UANBU - My Dh was evicted from the marital bed for either being unrousable to the point of fetching a mirror, or standing on the bed yelling WTF was that if a bat farted 50 miles away. It is annoying

I jump out of my skin if I'm in that just dozing off stage. I do get quite cross as I then find it very difficult to get back to sleep again.

The shivering after the shower reminds me of DS when he was about 4 years old

Now, if my DH was like that I'd make the most of it.

A friend of mine used to have great fun with her DP; she'd wait until he'd just nodded off and then she'd sort of JERK her whole body, accompanied by a loud "WAAAHHHH!!!" and then instantly go back to being motionless and silent. Of course, the jerk and shout would wake her DP up with a start, but because she immediately went back to being still and quiet, he wouldn't have a clue WHAT had woken him. And he was of "normal" sensitivity!

Imagine the fun you could have with your DP! [evil grin]

Another good one I heard recently - wait until he's putting a sweater on and when it's over his face, move really close so that when he pokes his head through the neck bit, you're suddenly RIGHT in his face. I haven't tried that on DP yet but I will. I will.

Laughing so much here - it's true that there really are a lot of posters who are married to complete wimps. What's the shivering all about? Did his mum used to stand with a hot towel waiting for him to jump out of the bath?

Have you talked to him about this? Has he always been like this?

My DH is like this, but he also can hear the "noises" that the TV makes on standby, the timer of the heater in the bathroom an other such sounds that a man of 35 should NOT be able to hear anymore.

I know it's a bit unusual, but my DH was much worse after he came back from 4 months in Basra. He's RAF and spent all his time INSIDE the compound, in the armoury that had 6 inch thick walls, but that doesn't muffle the sound of the mortars. It's 4 years since he got back from that tour, and has got better, but seems to have returned to his previous state of jumpiness.

My Biology based education makes me think anthropologically. Men were the hunters and protectors in times past - maybe they are just more tuned in to certain types of noises, just as women might be more tuned in to hearing the types of noises that youngsters make. (How many threads have there ever been about how "He NEVER wakes up in the night when the kids are awake!!")

Just me putting some thoughts down as they arrive in my head - may or may not be useful or relevant.

why do it when he is asleep?

he is obviously just dozing off and you talking or saying anything is making him jump.

ask him whilst he is awake not asleep, bit selfish to be honest, you got legs check the alarm yourself.

My DH can "hear" some weird buzzing noise...he also jumps a mile if roused. But we do kiss. I would ask the DH why he won't kiss.

I remember going to visit a boyfriend's Mum once while DB was at work. She went into the garden to put some washing out, he came home for lunch and went into his bedroom without knowing I was there. As far as he knew, the house was empty. I crept up behind him as he was reaching down to pick something up, grabbed his ribs and went "BOOOOOOO!!!!" and he screamed and leapt, I swear, 3 feet vertically. Then came down and just landed in a heap. It was probably the most satisfying "Boo" I've ever done.

Sorry but that's odd! My husband is the other way i could lie next to him and shout in his ear and he would still be snoring happily away.
The shower thigh is very strange as well unless your house is very very cold...
