Not had the pleasure of watching this dire programme before, i caught the end of it while tidying up after new years day family thing.

What the sort of sexist shit is this, then presenter guy , some supposbly ' funny' idiot actually said, as they introduced a vile man ' let the sausage see the roll' and then all the women were cheering.

How is this shit on tv?

although \link{http://www.itv.com/takemeout/previously/week3/week3boys\hes quite nice} - I wouldn't say no to him.

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 16:07

"No they arent they look like they are going to stand around being judged then picked by a man to be their 'prize'."

But they stand there judging the man for 75% of the game. They have the power for the majority of the game.
Would you find it derogatory if the roles were reversed?

emsyj · 02/01/2011 16:07

I thought the point was that the man is trying to sell himself to the women, not that the women are desperate and begging to be picked - I do wonder if some of the posters on this thread have actually seen it.

I like it. But then I like Miss World too and am gutted it's not on any more!

((retreats))

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 16:07

but the men don't judge them - they judge the men! I've seen "wipeouts" on the last series (still gutted I didn't realise it was on again) - where ALL the lights went out and the man didn't get to pick one of the last few.

And often there's only 1 light left on - so he has no choice in the matter.

claig · 02/01/2011 16:09

'a damning indictment of society as a whole that we are happy to sit around and watch vacuos people who are often of below-average attractveness preen as though they are gods gift and demand their 15 minutes in the spotlight to convince us all of how damn important and special they are.'

why bring up Paddy McGuinness again? Aren't we all in agreement about him?

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 16:09

PMSL Claig Xmas Grin

BeenBeta · 02/01/2011 16:11

I have just come back from a week of visiting my parents and PILs and after two days of near non existent broadband I was reduced to watching TV and intermittently shouting 'For Gods Sake!' at the endless diet of mindless drivel paraded before me.

It's bread and circuses for the masses while Rome burns. It really is!

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 16:12

"why bring up Paddy McGuinness again? Aren't we all in agreement about him?"

OI OI

claig · 02/01/2011 16:13

Know what you mean, I also shout "For God's Sake" when watching Newsnight.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 16:13

ahh I used to do that to Question Time - eventually had to stop watching it as it was getting me so riled Xmas Grin

ha. surprised thread is still going.

i think its sexist shite and shall never watch ( not that is was really intential in the first place) it again.

But its also crap quality tv, and i cant believe that people watch it really. Its shockingly bad.

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 16:19

Not big on QT as I'm not English. But I watched the BNP one and the Carol Vorderman one recently and my god it's a poor representation of your society.
The most pseudo-intellectual hand-wringing morons I have ever seen.
How you could get into a debate with NG and come out looking like the less intelligent one is beyond me but a lot of them managed.

Gemsy83 · 02/01/2011 16:19

You know zero about me SOCD but feel free to fantasise if that floats your boat.

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 16:21

"i think its sexist shite and shall never watch ( not that is was really intential in the first place) it again."

Why do you feel it is sexist?

BeenBeta · 02/01/2011 16:22

Have started watching the World Darts on BBC2 now. Finding it quite gripping and am shouting out the three dart finish combinations.

There is no hope. Sad

sue52 · 02/01/2011 16:32

I didn't think it was sexist, just cheap and tacky television. My 15 year old DD loves it though.

jonicomelately · 02/01/2011 17:20

Blimey. Surely there should be light and shade when it comes to TV. If this sort of thing was the only thing ever screened I'd be pissed off but at the same time, if Saturday night tv only consisted of Joan Bakewell or similar hosting a news review, that too would be unacceptable.

Well I don't know about anyone else but I would rather look like a 'brainless slag' than act like a brainless cunt.

Maybe you should think about that Gemsy.
