Not had the pleasure of watching this dire programme before, i caught the end of it while tidying up after new years day family thing.

What the sort of sexist shit is this, then presenter guy , some supposbly ' funny' idiot actually said, as they introduced a vile man ' let the sausage see the roll' and then all the women were cheering.

How is this shit on tv?

oooooooh you pinched my post giddyup - i love this show

claig · 02/01/2011 12:59

Sounds like Paddy rehashes Dick Emery jokes,
"ooh he is awful, and I can't stand him".

Aims80 · 02/01/2011 13:02

Haha. I love it, yes it's shit but it's entertaining shit.

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 13:29

Not a fan of it but I think it's watchable, plus a mate is on the Irish one in 2 weeks time. However I really fail to see how it's sexist towards women? The women have all the power for the majority of the game. The man is the one who is put on a podium to be objectified and humiliated

SantasENormaSnob · 02/01/2011 13:52

Yabu

just don't watch it if you don't like it

mugggletoeandwine · 02/01/2011 13:57

I think it's hilarious.
I also have a huge crush on PMcG.

SantasENormaSnob · 02/01/2011 14:08

Me too mugggle.

Met him a few times and he's lovely.

NinkyNonker · 02/01/2011 14:10

Tis shite.

hatesponge · 02/01/2011 14:19

YABU, it's a harmless programme, and has been said if you don't like it don't watch it.

Personally I think it's really funny :)

Nothing was meant by the sausage roll comment imo - as has been said they just have a different let the girl see the boy phrase each week...

BitOfFun · 02/01/2011 14:31

Let the wiener see the schnitzel...

I like it. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 02/01/2011 14:31

Chill out, it is shite but so is 100% of Saturday night tv. Find your remote and use it Grin

jonicomelately · 02/01/2011 14:33

claig. Paddy McGuiness isn't a chav. He's just a Northerner who is hosting a light-hearted entertainment programme that isn't your cup of tea.

KPee · 02/01/2011 14:35

I love it. It's shamelessly ""carry on", very funny and most of all, a bit of lighthearted gumpf.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 14:40

bollox is it back on!!!

It IS shite.........but oh god I did love the first series Xmas Grin

sharbie · 02/01/2011 14:42

exactly a guilty pleasure

claig · 02/01/2011 14:45

jonicomelately, I am certain that he isn't a chav in real life. He just seems to me to be one of these condescending, patronising comedians who affects to be a chav. I don't like his Greggs adverts and I don't like his retro, facile 70s Dick Emery style humour.

Every chav for themselves and each to their own, I say.

jonicomelately · 02/01/2011 14:45
Hmm
claig · 02/01/2011 14:46
Smile
sharbie · 02/01/2011 14:49

watch it in a modern post ironic way claiggy

PrivetDancer · 02/01/2011 14:53

It is trashy tv but I love it.

I presume you never eat sausage rolls and shield your children's eyes in the pastry section if you find them so offensive!

claig · 02/01/2011 14:54

Many comedians claim that their Dick Emery gags are post modern and post ironic. 'On the Buses' and 'George and Mildred' will soon be post modern classics.

I find Paddy McGuinness is best watched in a post-stupour way.

But everyone is different. We are like chalk and cheese, and Paddy McGuinness is certainly cheese.

LittleMissHootsMon · 02/01/2011 14:54

It is truly awful. It's not entertainment. It's cheap, facile and derogatory to women. Sets entirely the wrong example.

jonicomelately · 02/01/2011 14:55

You most certainly are claig.

claig · 02/01/2011 14:59

To give 'On the Buses' credit, it certainly is a classic in comparision to Paddy McGuinness.

mayorquimby · 02/01/2011 15:09

"It's cheap, facile and derogatory to women"

This has been claimed a couple of times on this thread, could you clarify to me how it's derogatory to women specifically and not to men? I'm not spoiling for a fight I'm honestly wondering if I'm missing something.
If it were the other way around. A woman comes out, she's put on a podium and objectified by 30 men and made to sing for her supper/perform for the honour of dating one of these en who sit there judging her then I could see an argument for it.
As it is a man comes out, is judged by the women who have all the power in the game and when they knock off their lights they then give their reasons for dismissing the man in what is quite often a fairly critical manner. In the Irish one they are bordering on cruel in some of their put-downs.
Surely if it's derogatory or sexist to anyone it's the man being put on show to be judged and mocked and made to essentially beg for a date?
