We have an ancient hot water tank and a shonky shower. It takes a good hour for the water to get hot enough for a shower, and very long showers are out as the hot water runs out.
We were a bit zombiefied this morning, having gotten to sleep around 3am. I was getting breakfast for the DCs at 9am and put the hot water on, intending to have a shower at tennish. Instead fell asleep again and was woken by Dh at 11.30 - he'd only just woken up too.
We had to leave at 1pm to see my aunt and cousins. DH went and turned on the shower. I scuttled into the bathroom and asked if I could go first as I needed to wash my hair, dry my hair and do my makeup and I thought I should do my shower first as I couldn't do any of that without and even if DH just had a shortish shower, if I got in right after chances would be the hot water would run out during (at the conditioner stage for example, urgh), and I couldn't wait an hour.
Whereas even if I had a long shower and used up all the hot water (DH just wanted a 'quick sluice'), he could wait an hour and have a quick one before we left.
DH clearly thought I was being unreasonable - he said he wanted a shower (and had turned it on - there wouldn't've been any hot water TO turn on if I hadn't turned it on at 9am), before he got dressed (I said he could just keep the dressing gown on for another hour), and if I wanted a shower first I should've gotten up before 11.30.
Admittedly I am not known for my faultless logic but was I being unreasonable?
