to not make any evening meal today?

I have been cooking all afternoon for a big family gathering at my house tomorrow.

Dh has been helping to tidy up the house etc but did spend a lot of time sitting at the kitchen table reading a magazine.
Mind you, I did spend a bit of time Mnetting too.

Anyway, I can't bear the thought now of cooking a meal.

The dcs were at my parents for the afternoon so they have been properly fed.

Am I being mean or is it perfectly reasonable not to cook tonight and to make us an omlette or scrambled eggs on toast with the egg yolks leftover from the pavlova (with some whole eggs thrown in)?

No that's fine. We're getting a takeaway. Relax and have a drink.

lenak · 31/12/2010 19:55

YANBU - Omlette is a perfectly acceptable evening meal anyway. You could always bulk the meal out with some salad and bread and butter (or oven chips if you have any)

Numberfour · 31/12/2010 19:57

YANBU at all.

charliesmommy · 31/12/2010 19:58

since when has eggs on toast not been a decent meal?

MamaVoo · 31/12/2010 20:07

Not unreasonable at all. I haven't done much in the way of cooking for a whole week now.

after laying half the kitchen floor (I am amazing obviously Xmas Grin)

DH went out and got me a lovely curry and some nice beer.

Carrotsandcelery · 31/12/2010 20:19

I am impressed Laurie - enjoy your curry - sounds like you have earned it.

Thanks - it looks pretty good (lovely grey slate) but I am a bit of a dimwit and cant calculate square metres so need to go out and get more tomorrow.

Having said that I was only going to do half of it anyway as can't have the entire kitchen out of action.

Carrotsandcelery · 31/12/2010 20:31

We have black (or very very dark grey) in our bathroom - it's lovely.
