..... they're simultaneously telling us there's a generation of massively obese young people who will die younger than their parents?

These ideas can't both be true, can they? And if not, which is more likely?

War children (like my parents and their siblings) will be pushing into the centenaries, that's for sure. After that I predict there will be a big dip with the junk food, couch potato generation. But hey, maybe 1 in 6 of us is still fit enough to make it to their 100th birthday...

Exactly so no need to worry to much about over population the oldies will live for ever the junk food lovers will die young. It'll all work it self out.

Mowiol · 30/12/2010 18:55

Didn't they say a while back that this may be the first century where numbers of children pre-deceasing their parents will actually increase due to obesity etc.?

MamaMary · 30/12/2010 18:57

Yes, I've wondered about this very point myself. Doesn't make sense. No help, sorry.

oh yes, those currently 60, 70, 80, will live to be well over a hundred.

Us lot will be dead by 60.

I hate the idea of living until i'm 100. All those years of worrying about money, depending on others etc. I'd like to live until I'm 87/88 max. I will therefore decrease my life expectancy by indulging in chinese takeaway, chocolate and cava as much as I fancy!
