I have had The Worst Cold In The World. I have been snotty and coughing for a solid 10 days now. Had 3 or 4 days when I felt like utter crap last week.

Dh has now just stated the coughing section of The Worst Cold In The World.

But his cough is quite possibly the most annoying thing ever. I want to physically hurt him when he does. And the thought of him doing it for the next 10 days is just hideous.

So should I do us all a favour and smother him now? I'd be helping really as The Worst Cold In The World is really nasty.

ah but what about your lingerie? - or i spose you coudl put it to good use by strangling him?

i can sympathsize. my dh has a really annoying fruity cough.

There's something about the way men cough that winds the hell out of me. It starts as a standard cough, but then there's an additional layer of self-pitying whine thrown in as well. It's somewhere between a cough and the noise an ill-treated dog might make. So yes, smother him.

In our case DH had The Cough first and I did really well by my usual Stiff Upper Lip standards - sympathy isn't one of my strengths, but I tried. Now he's better, I have The Cough and feel like shite, and he's doing a lot better than I did on the sympathy stakes. We don't do competitive illness, we do competitive sympathy.

i am blaming The Worst Cold In The World and The Cough for weakening my pelvic floor beyond repair and resulting in teh lingerie incident.

i fucking hope DHs muscles are stronger than mine or I really will have to kill him.

and it's all my fault for passing it on.

I had to make DS2 sleep downstairs on the sofa last night because I couldn't bear his coughing any more.

In my defence, he is 15. I spoke to him very kindly and made him some hot chocolate, then tucked him up on the sofa with a pillow and a duvet.

And he had been coughing pretty much solidly from 12 midnight until 2 o'clock in the morning before I made him go downstairs ...
