To expect family not to turn up drunk 2 1/2 hours after they say they will?

Boxing Day at my mum's and my stepbrother and his gf didn't turn up until 5.30 having said they'd be there at 3. They stank of drink, and had their 2yo with them Shock. We were all (eight of us and my DD) waiting since 1. AND then they left after 30 minutes!! Having given NO presents!!

If it's as black and white as OP , YANBU.

If they're young and didn't really want to come, were pressured to come, already had other plans and were guilted into it- YABU

As for they stank of drink with a 2 year old - meh!

They are 30ish, same as me. THEY said they'd come at 3. They are always like this, don't know why we bother really Sad

Selfish then - Sad for you - it's families though - accept and don't personalise it - says more about them tbh

If they are always like this then your only mistake was sitting around and waiting for them to arrive. I would have given them till 3.30 (or until everyone else had arraived) and then got on with food / presents / whatever else you had planned
