Ah well you see, DH could cope with flatpack with no trouble at all! He is worth his weight in gold - thinking of hiring him out, perhaps handing out fliers at Ikea exits.

Oh yes! Lego tantrums galore here too.

It's the kits that are the flipping problem, DS will play quite happily with random lego and produce some very imaginative stuff. The kits however produce unreasoning rage in all who try to follow the instructions.

LOL. Am cross with ds1 because he has lost Luke Skywalker already. I did tell him to put all his new lego figures in his plastic box. But no.

DH is particularly cross because the DC and I went to my parents for lunch and DS took his lego. Mum had the cheek to try and put some of it together before DH had even had a chance. It caused him to sigh and mutter' FFS, she hasn't even put this in the right place' under his breath a lot. Was tempted to kick him under the table.

He does tend to regard anything of that nature as his and snarls at anyone attempting to come near like a lion guarding a kill.

My DH loves these kits. He's been building the big Atlantis one today. Thankfully he stays calm, but I do have to encourage him to let ds do something to help other than tipping the bags into all my cooking bowls and then searching for tiny obscure pieces.

There was nearly a divorce here on Christmas Eve when we were attempting to build DD's doll's house. DH was shouting and swearing after about 5 seconds. Score for me though, I managed to build it despite being useless at flatpack in his opinion (deserved).

I look forward to the days of Lego, I loved it as a child!

I have to say i love lego atlantis as does my DS 8. He started to collect it in the summer and it is theh first lego he has ever built on his own and with no help from us, this is massive for him as he has a range of specific learnig diasabilities and concentrating, manipulating, following instructions are not his strong point. I should also add he still can't buikd any other kits, so we don't buy them but he does do the atlantis ones and we happily brought him the HQ and other bits ffrom christmas adn he has had great fun building them.

No, I raided our tool box for a proper allen key rather than the rubbish one in the kit. And I managed to remain calm in the face of some screws. Important wife skills round here!

Years ago I spent 3 consecutive days building Jabba's Sail Barge. I was like a woman possessed - nothing else got done, no-one could talk to me, I was on a mission from God. If a piece was missing I would have exploded. Cut him some slack :o.

We always end up with extra pieces in our Lego kits. Maybe we get everyone else's missing pieces?

Dh and Ds have spent nearly all day building Lego Atlantis while I have spent nearly all day building Playmobil. I LOVE it! I am in my element doing it. Imagine my when dd built a large part of the Playmobil herself!
I do agree that deep sided trays and a pack of Ikea bowls are needed for Lego/Playmobil builds to keep it all a little under control (before ds then sprays it randomly all over the house to be stood on during a barefoot creep to the toilet in the middle of the night!)

I remember the days when DH used to spend hours putting together the Lego. He then used to get really crossed when DS1 'broke' it!

But not as bad as another dad at DS1's school who apparently, having made the Harry Potter castle, then glued it all together!!!

DH bought everyone except me lego kits for christmas. Plus buying up all the cheap lego on ebay over about 3 days....

DC got lego Mindstorms, so we were woken up this morning by something hitting our bedroom door as DD had worked out how to build a "burglar alarm" that shoots marbles and had set it up to go off as we opened our bedroom door, but DS thought it was funny to set it off. I have wonderful children...
