AIBU to think it's the biggest load of sexist bollox ever?

The ad's shite and the cover of the song's shite - too bad to even be played in a shoe shop (they always played crap covers rather than pay for the licence for the actual versions IIRC). I thought advertisers were called creatives? There are more creative dog turds.

Duran Duran have just released a new album.. they are bound to enjoy having their song used in an advert. They profit from it!

To be honest though, the ad doesnt bother me either way... I can think of worse ones.

MrsColumbo · 31/12/2010 23:47

Yeah, the one with the Depeche Mode song is truly vile - can't remember what the ad's for, though.

OMG i thought i was the only one in the world to hate this advert. I pause the telly when it comes on i hate it that much.

upahill · 26/01/2011 11:09

I've not seen the advert but from the description it sounds like me and my mates when we were in our early 20's and all living together Blush

Lots of dancing in our undies to Duran records then getting pissed before we went out on cheap Lambrini.

(Think the ad makers must have been having a flashback to their long lost debauched youth when trying to think of a theme!!]

BuzzLightBeer · 26/01/2011 11:13

its just another example of using womens bodies and sexuality as a crass marketing tool. Have we so little resepect for ourselves that we think it is ok to objectify ourselves in this way?

bupcakesandcunting · 26/01/2011 11:15

Eugh that advert must have cost about 6 pence to make it's fucking shite.

I think the subtext is that the sofas are perfect for brothels because they have nice wipe clean surfaces?

ashamedandconfused · 26/01/2011 11:26

LOL at Miggsie

I agree that the "tactics" used are totally unnecessary for, indeed unrelated to the flogging of sofas. Are they appealing to wealthy bachelor boys who want to fantasize that if they buy this sofa dozens of girls will be begging to come round and writhe all over it?

MrSpoc · 26/01/2011 11:51

i like it, only because it is filmed at the castle where i got married.
