Some people got two or even three donors. I wouldn't have bothered if I knew that was the situation.

OP posts:
DizzyDoLittle · 21/12/2010 14:08

how nasty are you!!

tyzer2001 · 21/12/2010 14:09

I don't understand how this would happen? Are you saying they put their names in more than once?

DizzyDoLittle · 21/12/2010 14:10

There were more doners than nominations

mousesma · 21/12/2010 14:13

why does it matter? If the gift has been donated then its been donated and it shouldn't matter who it goes to as long as every one gets something.

potplant · 21/12/2010 14:13

How could this happen - I thought you put a present in and take a present out.

swanandduck · 21/12/2010 14:13

How could that happen? Surely everyone who puts their name in gives and receives a present?

tyzer2001 · 21/12/2010 14:14

Is this a MN Secret Santa? I assumed you meant one at work or something like that.

BusyMisstletoeIzzy · 21/12/2010 14:15

It seems a bit mean to begrudge anyone an extra gift, I'm sure everything was appreciated.

Hulababy · 21/12/2010 14:15

Well, next time tell MNHQ you only want to donate to someone who recieves nothing else.

In the past there has always been more donors than recipients. In order to allow all donors ro join in, then each nominated person will recieve more than one gift.

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 21/12/2010 14:17

YABU and a bit mean.

HolyTaxAccountant · 21/12/2010 14:17

Is this the Christmas appeal or something else? Sorry am confused.

Unrulysanta · 21/12/2010 14:19

Hmmmmmm. But there will be people who could have done with some support who didn't get nominated. It would be nice to try to get more nominations maybe? Do we know how many nominations/donors there are?

sleighBELLasringing · 21/12/2010 14:20

You need to explain yourself OP.

If you are taking about the MN SS Appeal, you are going to get such a bashing over this.

SilveryMoon · 21/12/2010 14:21

Are you talking about the MN one? If so, YABU.
Nobody forced you to donate did they?
You donate because you can afford to and you'd like to help a family who aren't so well off.
I received a MN secret santa box last year, in fact I got 2 and I have to say, when they were delivered (a week apart) I was so so pleased. I had no idea someone had nominated me to receive anything, so was a massive suprise.
My ds's were overjoyed with what was sent for them and the thought that a complete stranger was willing and able to donate such wonderful, expensive well thought of gifts was just heart-warming.
I did contact last years controller who informed me that there were more donors than nominated recipients so most people got more than 1 gift.
The generosity is just amazing and should be doing alot to restore our faith in the human race.
If you are unhappy with how your donation may have been distributed, don't donate again. Simple. A shame, because I'm sure whoever recieves your gift will be made up.

sleighBELLasringing · 21/12/2010 14:22

Some people literally having nothing whatsover to give their kids on christmas day and if that means that they have two or 3 doners then I for one am completely happy with that.

ihavenewsockson · 21/12/2010 14:26

YABU...and I don't even celebrate christmas.

I hope the MN who recived your gift doesn't find out it's you, they may feel obligued to send it back.

StayingFatherChristmasGirl · 21/12/2010 14:28

That's just what I was thinking, sleighBells. It wouldn't upset me at all if I thought my secret santa recipient had also got another secret santa gift - I would be happy at the thought of their pleasure.

sleighBELLasringing · 21/12/2010 14:31

I am pretty certain you are on my fb SFCG Smile

How would the OP feel if the situation was the other way round and she needed the help?

sleighBELLasringing · 21/12/2010 14:32

not that fb has anything to do with this thread Blush

SilveryMoon · 21/12/2010 14:32

SFCG is on my fb too Smile
Exactly sleigh bet he wouldn't mind getting 2 gifts if she was struggling.

StayingFatherChristmasGirl · 21/12/2010 14:33

Am I in an orange skirt and lime green tshirt in my profile pic, sleighbells? If so, can you give me a poke so I know who you are (I am soo bad at remembering which nickname goes with which person. Xmas Blush

As you were.

orangepoo · 21/12/2010 14:35

I don't really understand this.

Presumably the presents were for kids and most recipients have more than one child? So multiple donations would be appropriate, yes?

If you don't like it, don't donate next year. But I think you would be pretty miserable to do this.

wewishyouamerrylissiemas · 21/12/2010 14:35

ah, so something that was set up to help mners facing difficulty over the festive season should be limited to one gift per recipient?

Biscuit

my recipient got a few, and im really glad because shes had a shitty time and deserves it.

sleighBELLasringing · 21/12/2010 14:38

I have just posted on your wall SFCG Smile

My normal mn name is bellavita.

orangepoo - presents are for kids and the mumsnetters.

I sent a gift voucher to mine to be used however it needed to be used and a present for the mner.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 21/12/2010 14:38

Are you serious?

Sounds like your participation was more about you giving than somebody receiving. Hmm
