and it's not because of snow.

not a happy bunny. I love preparing for christmas, cooking, getting the house ready, but I like to have time to do it, on my own, before people arrive. turns out in laws are here and are not going away for a few days as previously planned. although it was always a tentative plan because no-one bothered to firm it up or tell me about it so that I can menu plan. menu planning is clearly considered the sign of an neurotic over-organised fool. I'm not ready for christmas and I want my house to myself so that I can get ready. oh fiddly bloody jibberty sticks

ahhh run away now!

My dm is here for a week then going away to visit friends after Christmas, I'm hoping the weather won't stop plans!

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 22:35

are they ok though? do you get on?

I can barely cope with a few hours though so just the thought makes me SHUDDER!

hatwoman · 20/12/2010 22:36

and the house was a mess when I got home from work at 9pm today.

I really do feel sorry for you.

I really do not get or understand why absolutely ANYONE thinks its OK to stay with someone for longer than a week. I really just do not get it. IMO - even my best friend who is bloody lovely would piss me off in my house for longer than a week let alone my inlaws.

MsKLo · 20/12/2010 22:39

why are they staying for week? where do they live - far from you usually?

poor you x

hatwoman · 20/12/2010 22:42

in fairness it's because we invited them to something a week before christmas - but they said they'd come and then go away for a few days and come back for Christmas. turns out the few days is going to be one night.

There? now? Staying until after Christmas?

Nightmare if so. Serve them weird food combinations (or dh for dropping you in it) pointedly telling them that you were planning on going shopping....xxx

zipzap · 20/12/2010 23:33

Could you not say that it's not convenient because you were expecting other people to stay in the days when they were not here? Or just get them to go back home again and come back again at the right time?
