First train to manchester out of ldn in fuck knows how long. Fucking carnage to get to it. Hundreds of people. And they don't de classify first class.
AIBU to think in "adverse weather conditions" it is the very least they could do to get more people moving and minimise the scrabble for the later trains?
Arsewipes.

I think the person who whipped the penny whistle off the child was quite restrained - I'd have dropped it out of the window myself.

OP - I hope you got to Manchester safe, sound and still in possession of most of your marbles.

I get Virgin trains between London and the north very frequently and the empty first class carriages really disgust me. What a waste of energy hauling them between two ends of England, and what appalling service for customers who have chosen a relatively environmentally friendly way to travel and largely paid full price for their tickets.

I've been in and seen situations where pregnant women, parents with babies, elderly people and disabled people are expected to sit or stand in the corridors while half of the train is empty. (The blind old man and his dog sitting in the toilet particularly sticks in my mind as does the 4 hour journey sitting on the floor at 8 months pregnant myself.) I've been part of several passenger sit-ins. But why on earth should we have to be so confrontational? Also, it is sometimes too crowded to actually move and getting into First Class is impossible.

If you work full time it's hard to travel off-peak. Many of us also don't have the kind of working schedules that allow us to book seats months in advance.

I've written to Virgin to complain on more than one occasion. They once sent me £5 in vouchers off my next train ticket....

Personally, I'd like to see first class abolished or confined to a single carriage for business travellers.

One of the very few times that I had actually bought a first class ticket (needed to work) and as I was getting second class paid for decided to pay for upgrade myself.

It would be the day that they declassified that carriage of first class for second class thanks to train being full (previous train cancelled). Even worse, for those people that did have first class tickets it meant they lost out because they wouldn't bring any of the usual freebie drinks/snacks/papers out to us Sad

I know it is only a minor thing and it is good that they declassified for everybody else but I wish it wasn't on the one day that I had got a full price first class ticket...

I have been on several journeys where I have booked tsetse for 'me and two kids only to find other people parked in the seats. The last time it was two old women who refused to move because one was 82 and disabled. I asked them why on earth they didn't book seats if one was disabled. They, apparently "got there early" to steal my seat Hmm so I ended up sharing my seat with two pre schoolers and a baby. The old dears regretted it a bit though, when dd1 and dd2 were sick on the table and the baby wouldn't stop screaming.

I've experienced horrendous conditions on those trains - I especially enjoy it when they lock certain toilets and you end up dragging g three you v children up the entire train in search of one.
