She sent me a txt today saying that she would like a certain cd for mothers day!
She did this last year and then bought it herself and I had to take it back.
So I txt her back and said tell me in 3 months.
Then she txt and said unless you're flush and wantp to get it for me from the children.
She's already had her pressie from me and dh and I've got the grandparents calendars of the dcs from them.

So aibu? I have a real dislike of people telling you what to buy them, unless you ask

YANBU - she's being cheeky.

I would text her back and say something like 'Father Christmas isn't taking anymore orders now for this year, you'll just have to wait and see what you get'. Xmas Grin

Yes v cheeky!

ShoppingDays · 19/12/2010 20:23

YANBU. If you've asked what someone would like then fine, but otherwise cheeky.

Oh yes if u ask someone that's different.

Last year after the cd disaster she requested a delivery of flowers instead, even though I was on mat leave and living like a peasant

yanbu. As she has a few months, get her to save up and buy it for herself if she's that desperate.

mosschops30 · 19/12/2010 20:39

Ooh you're all so harsh. I haven't replied to her txt because I couldn't think of anything nice to say, I'm sure she will manage to make me feel guilty about not getting it

She clearly wants it for Christmas but is trying not to be grabby by saying it could be for Mother's Day.

HecTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 19/12/2010 21:18

"I'm not flush. I don't have much money so I am sorry that I cannot afford to get it for you."

The direct approach.

Hopefully she'll feel embarrassed Grin
