Arrived test for 10 am flight. Left house at 4am. Flight delayed till 11. By them snow arrived.
Thee was then no info whatsoever. No tannoy announcements. Nothing. Read on www it had shut. No passengers informed. Tiny little snow ploughs. 4pm. Get on plane. De icer comes.

Now get this. After two hours. Two hours!!! He runs out of de icing fluid! This takes 15m normally.

Crew now out of hours. Thrown out of plane into hellish arrivals hall. No chance to get hotel. All full also might miss Sunday flight. No time given to this.

Promised blankets. Food and camp beds. Are mow on floor freezing cold.
Open suitcases to get more clothes. Some mob end left them in the snow. All clothes drenched.

What were your suitcases doing in the snow?!

Have you got car there? I'd be tempted to leave tbh

mumoverseas · 19/12/2010 04:12

oh poor you.
I appreciate it is not the airlines/airports fault but have to say, the way they are handling it is bloody awful. My kids were caught up in the bollox at Heathrow yesterday and have to say the attitude/lack of information by staff made things 100 times worse.

Agree with foxinsocks, do you have a car there? There are lots of hotels on the outskirts of Gatwick, towards Crawley, maybe they will have rooms vacant?

foxinsocks · 19/12/2010 04:18

You might have to do group hugs to keep warm. I know how you like those!

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 19/12/2010 04:24

just be lucky you dont have children with you

be strong and no nonsense, you cant starve or be cold enough to be ill in this country unless you just dont bother and think everything needs to be handed to you

hope you are home soon xx

GordianKnot · 19/12/2010 05:48

my friend and his fiancee were stuck there yesterday too, I only live just down the road but they were scared to leave just in case the flight re-opened!
