to tell DH I think it's mad for us to set out in a blizzard in the car with a 12wo and a 3yo?

For a visit to friends? They live 45mins away (in good traffic/weather) and it involves going on the M25. Terrified having seen news footage from last couple of weeks that we will break down/get stuck in the blizzard and all freeze. If we didn't have 12wo DD I wouldn't be so concerned. Am I being a drama queen?

Dont go
Turn on LBC radio!!!!
Stay well away from M25

oneofthosedays · 18/12/2010 14:22

YANBU, I would ring and arrange it for another time tbh, not worth the hassle.

nickeldonkeycarrymary · 18/12/2010 14:22

YANBU.

I'm sitting here in the shop and it's just coming down.

I would not be travelling on the M25 today.

werewolf · 18/12/2010 14:23

I would cancel.

CMOTdibbler · 18/12/2010 14:23

yanbu - I would not be going anywhere today, esp with a tiny baby

Blu · 18/12/2010 14:24

I have just had a text from someone who says the M25 "is a car park".

Totally irresponsible to go - once you are stuck in a car park on ice, you either keep your engine running to avoid freezing to deathand then run out of petrol, or you just freeze to death.

MegBusset · 18/12/2010 14:25

Yanbu, it's not a day for unnecessary driving esp with a young baby. Stay warm at home, I'm sure your friends will understand.

Georgimama · 18/12/2010 14:26

Of course not. Just don't go. Phone your friend and cancel.

nbee84 · 18/12/2010 14:26

I'm sure your friends would rather that you cancelled and stayed safe.

DeckTheHallWithBowlsOfPomBears · 18/12/2010 14:27

YANBU. It would be crazy to set out.

Georgimama · 18/12/2010 14:27

Actually I'd be surprised if they're still expecting you to turn up.

werewolf · 18/12/2010 15:01

Can you get on that website which gives real time images from traffic cameras - is it the Highways Agency?

Anyone know?

Rupreckt · 18/12/2010 15:02

Do not do it!!

jellybeans · 18/12/2010 15:06

YANBU, cancel it.

We've just cancelled a big evening out - please don't go out unless you really have to. Being stuck overnight in your car in freezing conditions is a real possibility.

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 18/12/2010 15:19

Please don't go.

expatinscotland · 18/12/2010 15:19

Don't be daft and go.

Ring them up and cancel.

clam · 18/12/2010 15:20

the website www.trafficengland.co.uk is useful. Type in the motorway and section you want, tick the traffic cam box and you can see exactly what's happening at the moment.

YANBU.

In fact, you would be mad to venture out unless it absolutely essential.

I spoke to my mother in Surrey earlier & she said it was horrendous. And that my brother had been stuck on the A3 for ages.
