As above. First night, can't sleep on my side due to op.Actually not too noisy but some gentle snores of others are disturbing the peace, plus usual hospital noise which is unavoidable.

I should really try to get some sleep as might as well take advantage of night away from insomniac (but adorable) dd.Haven't resorted to asking for drugs to help but God help me have counted sheep!

Tell me IABU and to turn off my phone!:)

it's tough to sleep in hospital, isn't it? i used to tune into the sound of the air conditioning units and kind of hum myself to sleep with them...
hope you are okay, and OF COURSE you should switch off your phone. Grin

girlsyearapart · 17/12/2010 02:17

Yes either turn off your phone and sleep or swap with me and feed dd3, listen to returning from work Dh, dd2 talking in her sleep about Dora or dd1 coughing..
Good luck with the op

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 02:25

Girls -no not tempting thanks but hope you get back to sleep soon.Feel your pain though!

If you haven't read the penguin threads in classics, they will kill a couple of hours. I lost yesterday afternoon. Grin

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 02:53

Oh Justin you are evil...just started reading first penguin thread, 41 pages! Oh I suppose I'll just have to doze in bed tomorrow afternoon instead...

MrsBonkers · 17/12/2010 02:56

Ask for drugs!

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 03:18

Would be afraid of being groggy tomorrow or worse, missing my breakfast if I got drugs-only had 2 pieces of toast all day!

Ok have stopped reading penguin thread for now, will give talks ol' sheep another go...

OP posts:

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 04:17

Thanks Aitch still here unfortunately.Actually had op yesterday, it's pain now that's keeping me awake :(

Though next door's snoring is frankly driving me bonkers.

giraffesCantDanceOnAllThisSnow · 17/12/2010 06:27

can you ask for more pain releif?

I always sleep well in hosp - think its because theres nothing else to do

girlsyearapart · 17/12/2010 06:29

Any sleep in the end?
I got another two hours.. So a grand total of almost three hours plus those two. Feel refreshed now.. Not,

girlsyearapart · 17/12/2010 06:45

Pressed post too soon!
How long are you going to be in hospital for?

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 07:11

Just awake now, got about 3 hours in total too. Can't believe I thought I'd get a better night's sleep here than at home! Snorey McSnoreson beside me is still fast asleep Envy Asked for more pain relief in the end to send me off.

Hopefully home tomorrow as it was key hole surgery so not too invasive. Do I get more sympathy points by mentioning it's my birthday tomorrow? Grin Only found out on Tuesday I was getting surgery, poor DH's lovely plans for me probably all for naught :(

Yes definitely get sympathy points for potential in hospital birthday!
The tvs are annoying they switch themselves on at 7 whether you want them to or not!

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 07:53

Actually Lenin, girls, we all have our own tvs with earphones on the ward which is great, no noise that way and can pick what I want to watch. Might help me sleep a bit later on too during the day, have a habit of nodding off watching telly.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

With a bit of luck they might let you home for your birthday. Might as well, at least, try to get a bit of a rest today and enjoy some day time TV and a few rubbish magazines.
Pull the curtains and pretend you're on your own little island somewhere warm and far away.

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 08:37

Well I haven't actually mentioned to them about my birthday, am a big girl now think they might be a bit Hmm about a grown woman making a fuss over her birthday.

MN is totally different of course, don't mind mentioning it here!
Good thinking oncemai, have book, tv, MN, all I need!

AitchTwoOh · 17/12/2010 11:28

happy birthday! (i would mention it)

LadyThumb · 17/12/2010 13:26

Never, ever, go into hospital without wax earplugs!

amarylis10 · 17/12/2010 13:46

Lesson learned Ladythumb! Thankfully am being let out today, wasn't expecting that so delighted. Looking forward to a full (ish) night's sleep at home, will be appointing DH chief-getter-upper during the night for dd.

Thanks all for the tips and company during the wee hours.
