Have been working from home this morning and am now on the train on the way to the office for the staff xmas lunch. I've just realised that the poloneck jumper under my suit is not only dirty but has a hole in the front.

In the interest of not putting my colleagues off their lunch AIBU to pop into a shop near Victoria station to buy another one and get changed quickly in the loo?

I would wear it again so wouldn't just be spending money on one afternoon out.

Does anyone know which shops definitely sell brown or dark green close-fitting polo-necks? Would consider other colours if necessary but would only have 15 mins to shop. Think there is a Dorothy Perkins, next, new look, monsoon an m&s all within easy reach.

I suppose I could just keep my jacket on and my arms down...

YANBU to pop in and buy something then quickly change. I popped out of work to buy a nice warm cardi when we had trouble with the heating!" No idea about shops though...

My bet would be with M&S for a polo neck.

AMumInScotland · 15/12/2010 13:04

Just looked - M&S have a ribbed poloneck in brown

There is a small Monsoon at the station itself. Don't know if it sells polo-necks though. There is some sort of shopping arcade just behind Victoria Station - exit the station at the exits near platforms 13-19, turn left, and it is over the next junction, but I don't know what shops it has.

Yes, try M & S. In ours, they've got some very nice cashmere polo necks right by the door as you go in.

AMumInScotland · 15/12/2010 13:06

Next website are useless - you choose "polo necks" and they show polo shirts...

Victoria place shopping Centre

Fantastic - thankyou! On my way to m&s now. (Have also discovered a massive hole in my tights so will have to get those too. Yes, I didn't look in the mirror before leaving the house today...)

Don't worry, this is totally acceptable. On more than one occasion, as a student, I popped into C&A on the way to work for clean pants and socks because I'd gott pissed and crashed on someone's floor the night before!
