to insist on an electronic copy of DS' proposed statement?

The last statement they sent I went through with a fine toothcomb and re wrote all the things I disagreed with and the things I wanted changing.

This time I have asked for an electronic copy because it will be much easier and quicker to compare the old one and the new one and easier to change. On the last one sometimes I only wanted to change one or two words in each point but had to write the whole thing out else it wouldn't have made any sense.

However they just sent me another hard copy. So I emailed again to ask for an electronic copy and have received no response but have now just received a snotty phone call asking why I haven't got back to them with my thoughts. Hmm

They must have a copy of it on their computer system so I don't see why it's so difficult to email me one.

There are quite possibly security / date protection implications with sending out personal information over email. But they should have told you that.

Agree, difficulties around data protection and security - LAs very cautious with that sort of thing.

I used to send out statements and we wouldn't send out electronic copies; it fell foul of electronic communication / security / privacy thingummies

Plus as Mary said, it gets much more difficult to keep track of changes. Also it's a statutory document, so the LA 'owns' it as the issuing body.

Soooo.... YANBU to ask, but you might well not get. I realise that might not be what you want to hear, sorry!

Could you scan a copy in in order to work on it?

nappyaddict · 15/12/2010 13:45

No scanner :(

I'd try and find one and keep the document on a memory stick -libraries may do it?
