mother has flu and a raging chest infection. she is a stubborn old bat and last friday i told her she needed antibugs but did she believe me? oh no. i had to go on visitig her and breathing in her nasty germs all sodding weekend ntil she finally cracked and i took her to the doctor.

so i spent my day off sitting in the gp waiting room surrounded by ill people, coughing, sneezing, hacking plegm and breathing all over me. fuckers.

and now i have woken up with a bunged up nose and sore throat.

fucking hell.

AIBU to suggest ill people should just quarantine themelves and stop fucking breathing over nice healthy people?

I agree! And now who is going to look after you??!!!

TheYuleLogLady · 15/12/2010 08:22

exactly. fuckers. but oh no. i'll be expected to soldier on. work are fuckers about sick leave so i'll have to drag myself in with double pneumonia and pleurisy. i won't get any sympathy at all and still need to do loads of christmas shopping.

and did i mention my sore throat?

So you'll be doing exactly what the poor sods you're moaning about have to do.

i know the feeling. I stupidly thought I was immune to this latest germ fest. This morning I have found I am not.

Thistledew · 15/12/2010 08:37

Get yourself a norovirus. That way no one wants you in work. My work are really strict on attendance as I am training at the moment but somehow mentioning D&V gets you sent home right away.

TattyDevine · 15/12/2010 08:39

How very dare those ill people sit in a waiting room of a GP of all things, like you wanted your mother to do.

Fuckers Grin

But I'm totally with you, illness ruins every Christmas, I blame children, they are like vermin, with their filthy germs and their penchant for sticking fingers in mouths/bums/eyes

Grrrrr Angry

ShoppingDays · 15/12/2010 09:06

YABU. Take some vitamin C or become a hermit.

TheYuleLogLady · 15/12/2010 09:29

oh i'd love to be a hermit. my dream job.

merrycompo · 15/12/2010 09:31

But she was quarantining herself until you forced her to go to the gp and join in breathing over the healthy people in the waiting room Xmas Grin

TheYuleLogLady · 15/12/2010 09:35

oh shut up compo.
i am not unrasonable. i am right. although no longer healthy ad somewhat illogical..

YABU
I was hoping to get ill - I've had a sore throat and runny nose for a couple of days, but have I? Have I gotten ill so I can go home to my bed and duvet and spend all day drinking orange juice and watching crapola lovey dovey movies in my PJs? No. No I have not. I am only slightly ill, and as a result, I can't hermit up and it's sooooooooo unfair

OhLittleTownOfShirley · 15/12/2010 09:42

I decided this morning that I just generally hate everyone.

Marne · 15/12/2010 09:47

Lol, you wanted your mother to go to the GP with the flu but no one else is allowed to go to the GP with flu/colds as you might catch it Hmm.

YABU, you go to the doctor because you are ill so you expect there to be other ill people in the waiting room, if you are healthy do not go into the doctors surgery. Chances are you caught it off your mother, not the sick people in the waiting room.

madonnawhore · 15/12/2010 09:47

Yes, ill people, go and suffer in solitude please.

My friend got norovirus the same week she started a new job and she was too afraid to tell them she was ill so she went in to work. I couldn't believe it when she told me. I thought it was a really selfish thing to do and if I worked with ehr I'd have been so fucked off.

I don't want other people's horrible germs: man on the tube with the hacking cough who didn't cover his mouth, I'm looking at you in particular.

faverolles · 15/12/2010 09:48

YANBU.
It's the selfish pigs who go out shopping, and cough and splutter over everything.

And the lady at school with no spacial awareness, who moves in as close as she can, just to tell me to stay away from her, as she has awful flu/D&V/anthrax (delete as necessary)

And the bloody people who send their dc into school straight after a tummy bug, cos the little puking darling doesn't want to miss the Christmas party. (You know who you are!!)

Just stay at home!! Please. Xmas Angry

tholeon · 15/12/2010 09:52

I do hate grown ups who cough and don't cover their mouths. Horrible. And children should be taught to asap as well.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 15/12/2010 10:07

Im suffering at the mo,havent left the house for a week,i have it largely due to all the selfish and snotty/puking fuckers who felt it necessary to vist my home even tho i am 8 months pregnant.I couldnt even get one of them to go and get me a magazine or paracetamol yesterday either, they were all too busy xmas shopping Xmas Angry

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 15/12/2010 10:08

yeah and dont cough into my fucking hair in a queue or in future i will chin you.

thrifty · 15/12/2010 10:20

yanbu. And especially don't in to your little darlings christmas play and cough full force over the people in front of you so that they can feel the hair moving. Hmm

thrifty · 15/12/2010 10:21

go not in. Bloody predictive text.

scarletbegonia · 15/12/2010 10:23

YANBU - I have the cough etc as well and am pissed with myself never mind anyone else.

Its getting old now

TheYuleLogLady · 15/12/2010 10:25

my mum once sent a request into the radio to play a record for me because I was ill.The DJ read out the letter saying I was 111.
The silly sod

LilRedWG · 15/12/2010 10:30

DH insisted on me going to the GPs with this cough/cold bug and I tried to resist, 'cause I didn't want to spread to anyone.

GP told me I was fine, so three days later I went to an antenatal appointment at the hospital only to collapse and be told I had a severe chest infection. Luckily, I hadn't totally believed the GP and didn't sit in the waiting room with the other pregnant patients. Even so, I am concerned that I've passed my germs along. :(
