To plonk the kids in front of successive dvds while I get on with tedious tasks?

ds is 2.10 and been to playgroup this morning so don't feel tooo guilty about that.
dd is 19months and is a bit under the weather just getting over a tummy bug.

I'm tired. I can't be bothered painting/telling stories/playing trains.

ilovemyfestivehens · 13/12/2010 14:21

As long as it's not X-Factor or Coronation Street Grin

staranise · 13/12/2010 14:21

Surely that's what CBeebies was invented for!

nannynobblystockingnobs · 13/12/2010 14:23

We often have dvd days, usually involving Panda Go Panda, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Mary Poppins and Toy Story 1-3.
Then I let DD pick :o

boogeek · 13/12/2010 14:27

I've got flu anmd we are having a beebies day. Am just narked that DD3 is too young to be mesmerised Grin

Crikey. I've never even considered whether IABU when I stick a DVD on for DS... Never even thought of it.

I've even Blush exhorted my DS to 'just sit down and watch the telly for a bit PLEASE!' when at the end of my tether. He actually won't watch it for long, but not for lack of my trying to persuade him. "But DS, if you switch it off now, you'll never know if they found Nemo or not!" I say. Will he sit down? Will he heckers like.

YANBU.

But please tell me your secret for getting children to watch TV for more than twenty minutes at a time. Grin

YANBU Don't know where the idea came from that 'parent' is synonymous with 'children's entertainer' but who want's to play kids' games all day? Encouraging them to amuse themselves is an important life-skill to pass on!!!
