to not want the same hair colour as my mum?

Me and my mum are having our hair done today. She was going first so I nipped out to get some cash. She had already decided on copper high lights but when I came back she was having the same colour put in that I had asked for. AIBU to be pissed off with my mum about this and not have mine done now and ask her to come back on a different day so she can get my 2nd choice of hair colour.

It's not your colour. She may have seen the colour you chose and preferred. I bet there are several hundred people walking around with the same colour from the same salon.

irishqueensspeech · 13/12/2010 11:49

it would actually really piss me off tbh.

chitchatinsantasear · 13/12/2010 11:51

YmightbeABU, but I would be pissed off too!

Megletitsnow · 13/12/2010 12:03

yanbu!

Won't it seem more natural like it's genetic? Grin

nappyaddict · 13/12/2010 12:57

Danceinthedark If she'd have chosen the colour without knowing I wanted it I wouldn't be pissed off. It's the fact she chose it knowing it was the colour I had already picked.

YANBU to be annoyed, but YABU to try to tell her to change hers now its done. Next time, don't tell her what you're going to have, if you think she'll copy the idea. Or tell her you're going to have purple this time, and see what she does with that idea!

She may have thought it would be nice to match, or just think you have good taste, or else be unimaginative and prone to copying.

nappyaddict · 13/12/2010 13:57

No I mean for me to get a different hair colour than I originally planned. It WAS purple!!

Oh right I thought "her" was your mum, but you mean the hairdresser comes to you, got it! No YANBU to get her to come back and do yours another colour on another day - I certainly wouldn't want to have the same colour as my mum, not that she'd have gone with purple anyway!

DanceInTheDark · 13/12/2010 16:29

again - it's not solely your colour.

Mountain out of a mole hill i think. You picked a colour, she picked a colour, she saw your colour and liked it better.

RockinRobinBird · 13/12/2010 16:37

Why is it an issue? You don't have the same head, presumably you look different.

nappyaddict · 13/12/2010 16:40

DanceInTheDark If she preferred the colour she'd have picked it in the first place. She only picked it because she knew I wanted it.
