feel my pain?

He doesn't like taking tablets/using nasal spray/use ANYTHING and he says he 'doesn't feel that bad' but sniffs constantly and snored enough last night to wake the dead.

so hacked off at having to 'sleep' on sofa since 3am that I can't use the christmassy smileys Angry

I do indeed feel your pain.

You would be well within your rights to kill him.

LadyThumb · 10/12/2010 10:20

Ah, yes - Man Cold. Should have a separate category under the World Health Organisation rules!

jollyoldstnickschick · 10/12/2010 10:22

My dh doesnt he has what I had last week but far far worse.

Hes gone back to bed with hot lemon and cold relief.

I was sat up 4 nights coughing my head off -whhezzed and spluttered my way through the day and still took ds3 ice skating - he however is 'floored'.

I feel your pain too.

hope you can take solace in the solidarity.

booyhohoho · 10/12/2010 10:24

make him sleep on the sofa!!!

and tell him either to medicate or stop sniffing!!

WhyIsThatThenWithJingleBells · 10/12/2010 10:25

Thats pants Sad

Make some mini lemon tarts, or a lemon meringue pies and cunningly place a marker on the ones you put extra strong lemsip in.

GlynistheMincePie · 10/12/2010 10:29

i would make him sleep on the sofa but he's too big for it a bugger to wake up and it's easier if i just go Sad

I LOVE the baking idea Wink

Why, thank you Glynis. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

If that fails, spray his nose whilst he is asleep and then sew a cricket ball into his pj's. If he doesn't wear pj's (wtf does?) then just a little piece of double sided tape will do the trick, be sure to catch a few hairs in the tape for good measure.

GandalfyCarawak · 10/12/2010 10:35

Ugh. Poor you.

itsTwiiiiitmaaaaasss · 10/12/2010 10:41

I agree, tell him to take his meds or sleep downstairs. Man flu is a myth that I refuse to have anything to do with.
Obviously you can't always help snoring if you have a cold, have you got some karvol or some vicks?

WhyIsThatThenWithJingleBells · 10/12/2010 10:42

Ah yes, vicks around his eyes will stop him snoring Wink

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 10/12/2010 10:43

Dp does this, drives me fucking potty !

GlynistheMincePie · 10/12/2010 10:44

itsTwiiiitmaaaaasss, yup we have ALL those things

getting them into/onto him is another matter Xmas Angry

My DH also has a sniffle cold.

I have a cold. I'm pregnant. I'm also suffering with a tummy bug kindly brought home by DS1. I had to sleep with DS2 as he has a horrid cough and woke every hour 5 mins throughout the night.

But DH is by far feeling worse than me Hmm

itsTwiiiiitmaaaaasss · 10/12/2010 10:55

hmm, tell him to stop acting like my 4 year old dd, I'm having trouble getting stuff in and on her.
I'm glad you're feeling up to using the festive smilies again. Xmas Smile

MSFOX, you are definately worse off than him, tell him to grow up. Take care, I hope you feel better soon.

MsFox · 10/12/2010 10:59

To be fair though, he did work a 14 hour day yesterday (hard labour work) and was out the door by 7.30am again this morning, I can afford him some sympathy!

MsFox · 10/12/2010 11:00

oh and thank you Smile

GlynistheMincePie · 10/12/2010 15:24

AAARRGGHHHH!

'D'H has just come in from work, early - nice Xmas Grin

came to give me a hug then did a massive snotty sniff over my shoulder Angry

and hasn't bought any cold remedy as he 'doesn't know what they do anyway'

DH also has a slight cold.

It is a Virus. Not the ordinary common cold virus-with-a-small-v, but a Far More Serious Virus with all capitals which required him to work from home in case going out in the cold made it worse. He sat around in his dressing gown all day.

He got rather narky when I failed to completely smother my knowing smirk. But at least he drank the Lemsip I gave him.

mowbraygirl · 10/12/2010 15:54

My DH has one as well he is sat on the sofa watching the snooker coughing and spluttering. I have been out helping at a charity function and have only just got home. I asked if he had taken any more paracetamol no he had forgotten so can't be that bad.

I am just gettting over a very heavy cold must say first I have had for about 4 years. I have felt really rough awake hours coughing etc. etc. but still carried on as usual as there is so much to do this time of the year so I just dosed myself up. I was inhaling taking paracetamol and cough mixture and Vicks under my nose at night they will only do these things if you sort it out for them.

Total sympathy here too.Dp has a mouth ulcer and is being unbearable!

Numberfour · 10/12/2010 16:08

It's the constant sniffing that my DH does when he has a cold that turns me into a murderous mad woman.

And if I so much as mention that I might possibly be developing a sore throat, he immediately feels as if he has swallowed a packet of razor blades.

It really and truly remarkable how many men react this way. I thought my irritation with DH in situation like this came about because my dsd never moaned about feeling ill, unless he was desparately so.
