to be miffed at Tesco customer service lady

Went along with my clubcard vouchers to get them 'doubled up' for the electrical dept. Only afterwards did I find out the particular item I wanted to buy with the vouchers was excluded from the offer. I went back to customer service lady and asked if they could be exchanged instead for clothing dept.

She said unfortunately they could not be changed and why not buy myself some hairstraightners or a hairdryer instead? I explained I didn't need either (I already have some GHD's). I have very naturally curly hair and was a bit Xmas Hmm at her suggestion.

So was this lady being genuinely helpful or do you reckon she has a secret hatred for curly haired people?

She probably thought she was being helpful.

taintedsnow · 08/12/2010 17:49

Yeah, definitely helpful. Why didn't you check before, if it was a particular item?

smoggii · 08/12/2010 17:49

I don't know what you were originally looking for but if it was a similar item then she might have been being helpful. If you were looking for a kettle then she was probably being a b*h

At least she didn't recommend an electric razor Grin

mogwhistle · 08/12/2010 17:51

I wanted a pair of speakers for an i-pod , so not similar at all! lol

Maybe she didn't want to offend by suggesting kitchen equipment Xmas Wink?
I would email them. I've complained (in a nice way) about Tesco items a couple of times and always had a phone call and a refund/problem sorted within a day. It's always been very positive.

mogwhistle · 08/12/2010 17:53

Xmas Grin @ scurryfunge agree could have been worse!

I have no intention of complaining about the lady, just thought her comment was a bit weird given I'd explained what I'd originally wanted to use the voucher for Xmas Smile

Not complaining about her, complaining that you couldn't swap t'voucher back.
Complaining about a possible curly hair slur would be odd I agree Xmas Grin

I think that she was probably just trying to be helpful and made a bit of a gaff
