... at holding the fort at work alone for SIX dayswhile being sent never-ending demanding emails by my boss's boss and then have everybody say i'm 'lucky' to have been unaffected by the snow.

Angry

am not lucky, i pay a bloody fortune to live near work.

i am doing the work of FOUR people and not a word of thanks for my walking 2miles each way through knee deep snow.. just 'you're so lucky you don't have to drive / take the train / use the bus'.

YANBU. Any chance your boss will give you a nice big Christmas bonus in recognition of your hard work?

AgentZigzag · 06/12/2010 20:31

YANBU to be annoyed at being so lucky Grin

I'm sick of the f-ing snow now, and the f-ing biting f-ing cold.

You'll have to drop some subtle as a brick hints for them to thank you for all your hard work.

Bet you're fit from all the walking.

complexnumber · 06/12/2010 20:32

yanbu, hope you are warm and rewarded and recognised the next time pay rises are made

my colleague and I have been in every day in the bad weather our other branch, near where
the boss lives managed to get in friday morning , we managed all week, even though they all live within walking distance - less than a mile. the boss then rang to say it was quiet at her end so as soon as I had done my paperwork to go home as she wasn't paying us for 'sitting around'- i said ok i will go at 1.00pm - she said that was far too long to wait - go at 10.30 - well, the courier rang and said he would be there at 1.30pm so I waited and at 12.30 a very elderly client came in for her new glasses and told me she had come 6 miles on the bus - how good would it have been if I had not been there for her. My boss and her husband both have 4 wheel drives & never showed their faces all week - Contrast this with my husbands works where he has picked up his guys himself in his 4 wheel drive and not missed any work. My colleague & I think that we are having the piss taken and will file this away for future - it sems to me that there are those who have a can do attitude and those who have a 'taking the piss' attitude - i shall seriously think of looking for a new job next year
