To boycott Cadburys

To boycott Cadburys as well as Philip Greens Arcadia group. I am fuming over the fact we did not want Kraft to buy out Cadburys and now they are trying to avoid paying taxes in this country. I am never going to buy an Old Jamaica bar again please join me in this.

sorry - this is a step too far
I think Phillip Green is indeed a bit of a knob, and Kraft are asset stripping bastards - but I an not prepared to give up my Dairy Milk for my principles

blametheparents · 06/12/2010 17:44

I really can't.
Couldn't inflict my terrible PMT on DS and DD without Dairy Milk to take the edge off!

RockinSockBunnies · 06/12/2010 17:45

Who do you mean by 'we'? Kraft bought out the Cadbury's shareholders who were happy enough with the deal to back it.

In terms of tax avoidance, it's a legal step to take - tax evasion isn't. All corporates will endeavour to pay the least tax they can.

Zondra · 06/12/2010 17:47

Move onto Galaxy it's much nicer than Dairy Milk.
Op yadnbu!!!
It is absolutely shocking what Kraft are doing.

PaisleyLeaf · 06/12/2010 17:50

I don't know anything about it.
Nestle I can easily avoid. But Cadburys.......

kerstina · 06/12/2010 17:51

I live in Bournville so i hope i am speaking for the majority of people living there. Yes i blame the shareholders and the previous government for not legislating to prevent hostile takeovers.
Recommend Bueno bars for P.M.T thats my medicationSmile

No biggie. Prefer Milka anyway Grin

Ryoko · 06/12/2010 17:58

I said it before and I'll say it again they should have sold it to Nestle.

Eat Supermarket own brand it's good shit that normally comes from Germany.

pantomimecow · 06/12/2010 18:02

YABU to boycott buyingchocolate ! You are cutting off your nose to spite your face!

BikeRunSki · 06/12/2010 18:09

Can't boycott Cadbury's aswell as Nestle!

MrManager · 06/12/2010 18:10

The Sainsburys basic own-brand (white and orange packaging) chocolate is surprisingly good, and only 25p.

usualsuspect · 06/12/2010 18:12

YABU

thefurryone · 06/12/2010 18:16

YANBU

Choosing how we spend our money is the only real control that we have over how large companies will behave (I know each person is only one small drop in the ocean but if we all acted according to our principles rather than just doing what is easy who knows how much power we would wield!).

QuintessentialShadows · 06/12/2010 18:18

Cadburys is vile, dry and bitter, anyway, so yeah, Ill join ya!
Grin

panettoinydog · 06/12/2010 18:22

who is this 'we'? Was it up to you?

I'd boycott it regardless because you might realise you prefer a better quality of chocolate.

Ryoko · 06/12/2010 18:24

Chocolate is meant to be bitter.

kerstina · 06/12/2010 18:25

It was not up to me but as i said i live in Bournville the village surrounding Cadburys so it was a very big deal to us !

whoknowswhatthefutureholds · 06/12/2010 18:36

MrsCratchit · 06/12/2010 18:40

Seven months pregnant, run up to Santa bringing me a selection box- no, it's too big an ask, sorry...!

Although having always been a Cadbury's devotee I have just discovered Galaxy orange shortcake Smile

anonacfr · 06/12/2010 18:43

Cadbury's not even real chocolate.

PatFig · 06/12/2010 18:46

I heard a prog on the wireless the other day about the flood of companys that are relocating hq to Geneva so they can pay less tax and indoing this they are also taking the high earners with them (the high earners pay tax in this country and spend money in this country) If these people are relocated they will be paying their taxes and spending their money abroad

They should not be paying so much tax and we should be making the UK attractive to these global companys otherwise the city of London will become like any high street in this land with empty boarded up shops

PatFig · 06/12/2010 18:49

oh yes another thing

Lets all buy cheap chocolate that is made abroad and not buy the stuff that is made in this country and put our own workforce on the dole whilst supporting foriegn workers who do not pay tax or spend their wages in this country

good idea

Minnerva · 27/03/2011 17:04

I have started to boycott Cadburys Kerstina so I am with you on this one!
