Would they really want me in with flu?

So me and DD have flu- temperatures, aches, full on throat infections etc.... We are not leaving house today except to drop off and collect DSs from school. DS2 has dietician appointment on Weds am so to give the hospital some notice I rang this am to rearrange and got the third degree..... They only let me move it because my attendance record is good (DS2 has suspected coeliac disease so it's not a trivial matter as they are keeping a close eye on his weight)...
So really if they hadn't " let me off" I would have had to turn up at hospital with me and DD with flu to avoid having to get re referred by my GP and wait another 6 months for an appointment.... Is it me or is this madness!!!!

You wouldn't believe the messing about/timewasting/not turning up that goes on with outpatient appointments in general, and in the trust where I work there is about two thirds of a dietician to go round I think, they are so rare a sighting warrants "twitchers" gathering from all corners.

YANBU to cancel but equally they are NBU to be a wee bit Hmm about it, doesn't matter how serious the condition there are plenty of parents who take the piss (I know of one family who took the wrong daughter to a CF clinic, she hasn't even got CF for feck's sake!).

Thankfully your good record has stood you in stead and nobody's time will get wasted. Hope your DS2 gets sorted and that the rest of you are better soon!

I guess I know that I just find it hard to believe that they would want me infecting all the people in the waiting room!! Thanks for your reply!
