I've got my 17 yo brother staying for the weekend. This morning him and dh swapped places in bed whilst I was still asleep. When I woke up and I was still in half asleep phase I snuggled up to who I thought was DP etc. Only for my brother to say I love you sis but incest is a bit far, cue hilarious laughter from him and dh who was in the room. AIBU to not get why this was funny in any way

Not particularly funny, no. Just kind of dumb.

I just couldn't be with somebody that juvenile and uninteligent. Somebody actually prepared to laugh at my discomfort? The somebody who is supposed to be my soulmate, who obviously didn't know me that well at all? I wouldn't settle for so little, sorry.

You articulated what was off about it for me . I was bollocking on about humiliation etc but actually it was just that they were laughing at her.

Some people go through life looking for the humour, because life is pretty ridiculous in so many ways. Others march along with a frown and a cat bum mouth ready to tell the rest of the world to grow up and stop being so silly.

I am not sure that that is true. I think there are miserable fuckers and that there are people who find anything funny regardless of any element of cruelty. - I remember the people guffawing in the background as they goaded their toddlers to fight each other.

That is an extreme example but humour does have taste - people like different styles
