to not understand why this was funny in any way shape or form

Have namechanged for this
I've got my 17 yo brother staying for the weekend. This morning him and dh swapped places in bed whilst I was still asleep. When I woke up and I was still in half asleep phase I snuggled up to who I thought was DP etc. Only for my brother to say I love you sis but incest is a bit far, cue hilarious laughter from him and dh who was in the room. AIBU to not get why this was funny in any way

Jesus, Sparkle, do you take everything so seriously? A 'stunt'? It was a joke she didn't find funny - there was no malice behind it!

Bairyheaver · 04/12/2010 13:49

Oh for heavens sake, lighten up. Sure, it wouldn't win a comedy sketch award, but it was mildly humourous.

RockinRobinBird · 04/12/2010 13:51

Not hugely funny but certainly not grounds for divorce. I'm amazed that anyone would question the future of their relationship over it.

diddl · 04/12/2010 13:56

I wouldn´t find it funny.

And I´d be wondering what I was doing with such an immature twat.

Puerile-yes, just the word imo.

qualitystreetrosescelebrations · 04/12/2010 13:56

I wouldn't of found it hysterical, but prob would of let them think i was still asleep, and stroke his arm, saying something like
'Ooh dp you make me feel so like a woman, quick whilst bro is still asleep.' And then watched bro leap out of bed.

Therefore, as always having the last laugh Grin!

WomanOfAbjectMystery · 04/12/2010 14:01

Sorry but if my husband gave any other man, brother or not, permission to access my body or intimate space, without my knowledge and agreement, I would seriously consider leaving him, because it is utterly disrespectful and disturbing.

Make it quite clear it was an unacceptable violation of your boundaries and dignity. Make him suffer until he truly understands the wrongness of it, if he can. Ditto the brother who would no longer be welcome in my home,

Ask them whether they would like this to happen to their mother.

Goblinchild · 04/12/2010 14:04

Isn't there a Maltesers advert with something along the same lines, only it's women repositioning their men on a sofa?

booyhohoho · 04/12/2010 14:04

womanofabjectmisery are you for real? you wouldn't let your brother in your hosue again after that?

booyhohoho · 04/12/2010 14:05

yep goblin there is.

mumbar · 04/12/2010 14:05

made me Smile.

I can see how it could go wrong - but I'm sure your Dbro would have stopped youu going... there!!!

ItalianLady · 04/12/2010 14:07

YANBU.

I wouldn't like it at all.

usualsuspect · 04/12/2010 14:07

Not really funny ..but he is your brother not some random stranger ..bit ott there WomanOfAbjectMystery

bruxeur · 04/12/2010 14:09

Practical jokes are for twats. Without exception.

diddl · 04/12/2010 14:12

Very well put, Bruxeur

I see that the brother is 17 so might have found it funny.

But I would be really disappointed if my husband went along with it because he knows I wouldn´t find it funny.

And because of that I´d be really hurt.

olderandwider · 04/12/2010 14:27

Isn't there a scene in a film where the wife sees the husband naked and bending over a basin cleaning his teeth. She reaches between his legs and gently pulls his cock (as you do!) and says, breakfast in 10 minutes. Except, it's not her husband. It's the DH's friend who stayed overnight. Can't remember what happened next but, just, yuck, eeeew, and gross on so many levels! I can imagine how you feel OP. Just not funny because of all the what ifs.

harpsichordcarrier · 04/12/2010 14:31

I think you are overreacting a little and taking this way too seriously...
no damage done, surely?
he's just your brother, not a stranger or anything.
it was just a cuddle.
I mean I wouldn't find it hilarious, but it's no big deal imo

MyBrilliantCareer · 04/12/2010 14:34

I'm sure the brother wasn't up for any action either and might possibly have thought to not let it get anywhere near that far.

Vallhala · 04/12/2010 14:35

Whatharpsichord said, above. No big deal but not side-splittingly hysterical either.

beade · 04/12/2010 14:59

I don't think its funny but I think its just a joke that they clearly found funny so no harm done.

ragged · 04/12/2010 15:05

Okay, it's juvenile... but I'd think it was hilarious -- most things are funny precisely because they are so uncomfortable. Smiles/laughing, it's all anxiety-release behaviour.

Tell your DH you'll kill him if he pulls a stunt like that again... say it with a big Xmas Grin.

pagwatch · 04/12/2010 15:09

I don't find it offensive but i can't see why it is funny at all. It makes fart cushions seem deeply sophisticated and witty.

Seriously. Not funny.

diddl · 04/12/2010 15:11

"but I think its just a joke that they clearly found funny so no harm done."

Oh that´s ok then, never mind OP´s feelings about it.

sparkle12mar08 · 04/12/2010 15:23

I take my right to say what happens to my body extremely seriously, yes. Why would any sane, intelligent, educated woman not?...

earwicga · 04/12/2010 15:27

YANBU. Not at all funny.

beade · 04/12/2010 15:27

But it was her that cuddled her brother admittedly she didn't know it was her brother but its not as if he molested her in bed.
