to not understand why this was funny in any way shape or form

Have namechanged for this
I've got my 17 yo brother staying for the weekend. This morning him and dh swapped places in bed whilst I was still asleep. When I woke up and I was still in half asleep phase I snuggled up to who I thought was DP etc. Only for my brother to say I love you sis but incest is a bit far, cue hilarious laughter from him and dh who was in the room. AIBU to not get why this was funny in any way

It sounds quite funny to me TBH. I don't really see what the big deal is if you didn't touch anything inappropriate. [shrugs]

Vallhala · 04/12/2010 15:33

Kokolp I note that you write of your DH in your opening post yet in the next sentence you refer to him as your DP.

Were there three people in your bed? :o

Marjee · 04/12/2010 15:33

That is quite funny but had the potential to go so wrong Grin

tecerel · 04/12/2010 15:42

YABU he's your brother, have you not cuddled your brother before

diddl · 04/12/2010 15:45

But it was her brother pretending to be her husband whilst she was asleep.

WingDad · 04/12/2010 15:47

Oops, sorry OP but I found it funny haha!

rainbowinthesky · 04/12/2010 15:47

Awful. Very bizarred. Is your dh odd in other ways?

lorelilee · 04/12/2010 15:52

Sparkle - nothing actually happened to HER body - her brother merely snuck into the bed beside her. SHE then snuggled him and, as far as I can see all he did was SPEAK to her. Are you really this uptight?

diddl · 04/12/2010 15:58

People who find it funny-would you find it funny if it happened to you?

pagwatch · 04/12/2010 16:01

I wouldn't be upset but I can see why some would be. After all, the 'humour ' lies in the potential disaster of op giving her brother ( ha ha) a sleepy fondle.

Not really hugely funny when you think about it. But people read the Sun and watch 'animals do the funniest thing' and Jeremy beadle earnt a good crust.
Some folk enjoy humiliation as a comedic tool.

Limara · 04/12/2010 16:01

It's weird and I would have been annoyed at the time through shock but I would have seen the funny side of it!

booyhohoho · 04/12/2010 16:01

diddl, i have already said i would laugh if this happened to me.

cumfy · 04/12/2010 16:04

Really odd.

Are they still insisting it was funny ?

LynetteScavo · 04/12/2010 16:05

YANBU...but am I the only person who actually checks it is DH who's in my bed ever morning, to make sure I'm never taken by surprise? Hmm I've no idea why I do it.

I also check to see which child is in the bed if there is one. One morning I could feel a medium sized knee, and was really confused as I knew it wasn't DH or DS2 Confused. Then I realised it was DS1, who was 10, and hadn't been in our bed for years!

MyBrilliantCareer · 04/12/2010 16:11

Think about it: there was no real potential for anything to go wrong. The brother would have made sure of that! I doubt he wants his sister fondling him inappropriately.

It was just for a silly laugh. It's not that big a deal.

lorelilee · 04/12/2010 16:16

Diddl - I didn't say I found it funny, I just dont think it's cause for divorce like some!

ChippingIn · 04/12/2010 16:23

Lynette - a medium size knee PMSL (almost literally). I can see why you check who is in bed with you! Most of us make the assumption it's the one who got into bed with us last night.

Sparkle - over-reaction much?

womenofabjectmiery - WOW. Just WOW really.

Pagwatch summed it up for me ^I don't find it offensive but i can't see why it is funny at all. It makes fart cushions seem deeply sophisticated and witty.

Seriously. Not funny.^

Oh and whoever said 'purile'

I would have been very Hmm and not at all Grin so I am with Reality - a humourless bitch :)

pagwatch · 04/12/2010 16:23

I did think about it thanks
The whole set up, the whole point of the attempted humour is the op approaching the brother in an inappropriate manner.. Otherwise he could have put a dc in bed instead which wouldn't be a joke would it.
The brothers hilarious incest line confirms that thatvwas the purpose .

There was potential for humiliation unless the ops dh knows for absolute fact that the op would not reach for her brothers crotch ( whether she was stopped or not) or say something sexual.
People enjoy humour which is based around humiliation-- which is their choice. But don 't pretend that that is not what was happening.

diddl · 04/12/2010 16:24

Well as I said, knowing that I wouldn´t find it funny, I would be hurt if my husband went along with it & then to add insult to injury, laughed.

I suppose it´s just that I don´t find the thought of finding someone in your bed who shouldn´t be there, funny.

politac · 04/12/2010 17:27

I don't find it funny but I have never got the male sense of humour still I don't think its anything to bother around. Its not as if you put your hands down his pants is it.

cumfy · 05/12/2010 00:07

Just arrange for him to find you in bed with someone.

Then make out it's an hilarious jape.

"I so thought it was you, I really did "
