I will set the scene first! Grin

Just spent 6 days stuck at home due to the snow with 2 DSs one 21 months and other 8 weeks, so even walks around the village were out of order as couldn't push a buggy through 2 foot of snow.

So managed to find the car eventually under a snow drift, spent an hour digging it out then loading up the DSs for a wonderous trip to Asda. Asda a nightmare as usual (usually do online but they cancelled the delivery) and DS1 in a strop throughout the trip.

I get back home only to get stuck at the top of our street in an ice/snow hole thing. Spent an hour digging/crying/praying the car would move until I admitted defeat and started knocking on a couple of doors to ask for help. Neighbout in question opens the door an inch, glares at me and when I asked would she or anyone else in her household possibly help me as I am stuck and had two little ones in the car, she snapped "no, there's only me" and slammed the door in my face. I therefore ask MNers whether me (not shouting) saying fucking cunt to her door is not unreasonable.

I would like to state after another very nice couple of neighbours who came to my rescue pointed out that in cunty neighbour hadn't of parked her van as she has done then no-one would need to slow and hence get stuck as I did, so she is already a knob for creating the situation in the first place.

Thank you rant over!! Grin

How can this thread represent all that is wrong with society today cumbrian? If she had been polite in the first place then the situation for me to have a strop to myself would not have happened! Manners maketh a man as my nan would say!

And fancy calling me "rough as old boots" charming, I'm glad I don't live in your elitist existance either! Grin

Oh for goodness sake! She was having a HORRIBLE DAY!!! leave the poor girl alone. Honestly some of the girls on this place act like their poop doesn't stink! She came on for a wee rant not to have her life dissected/parenting skills questioned/good neighborness (ahem) assessed! Give over.

BluTac · 03/12/2010 22:26

Why do I find it so offensive when people find the word "cunt" offensive?
CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT

Guitargirl · 03/12/2010 22:29

'Manners maketh a man' from someone who has just called her neighbour a 'fucking cunt'. Ah - the irony...

AgentZigzag · 03/12/2010 22:30

It's possible the neighbour was having a similar crap day, and being dragged away from Jeza was her last straw?

Cumbrian07 · 03/12/2010 22:31

There are worse things wrong with society agent, but I really think that the way that people react to other people is frightening. Who's to say that the other woman wasn't also having a terrible day. Also just the way the op didn't abbreviate or block out the words in her post shows that using language like that isn't a big deal to her. Does she not think that children might read this? This is really what is wrong on a day to day basis in society.

Guitargirl · 03/12/2010 22:32

If you don't like the answers then why post in am I being unreasonable. You must have known that some people were going to disagree with you.

Cumbrian07 · 03/12/2010 22:36

OP I can't believe you are talking about bad manners when you have shown a complete and utter lack of any kind of manners, even if you didn't like the way someone reacted to you. You didn't show any kind of good manners.

domesticdiva · 03/12/2010 22:37

Blutac - lol!!Grin

After reading some of these replies I promise I will no longer use the phrase fucking cunt when faced with a discourteous person, I will in future mutter "damn you, you inconsiderate and unaccomodating weevil' sternly under my breath. No offence to weevils of course!

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 03/12/2010 22:37

Some peoples reactions at some times can be a bit frightening, but that's hardly a new thing.

The OP did block out the swearing in the title, and children shouldn't really be reading the posts.

If they do, it's the parents responsibility, not the OP of the thread.

LeakMyWiki · 03/12/2010 22:38

What because she said something to A DOOR?

That is hardly symptomatic of All That Is Wrong With Society. It's like an Onion headline. Woman swears at door. The very fabric of society collapses.

mamatomany · 03/12/2010 22:39

I have to say I on;y ever ask for help from those who I know can and will help me out, why did this lady make the top of your list ? I know who lives alone, who would have a baby themselves etc and they'd be absolute last.

cuppatino · 03/12/2010 22:39

Sounds fine to me. I'm sure I've called people far worse under my breath.

2shoesnightmarebeforechristmas · 03/12/2010 22:42

yabu
I don't even get what you expected her to do

domesticdiva · 03/12/2010 22:46

cumbrian - i did block out the words on the title however if a few & and * still offend you I will ask MN to remove this whole post. As for children reading this I am sure there are far worse things on the internet than me having a rant after a bad day. I think if you read one of my replies swearing is not top of my vocubulary so find it offensive that you make such a sweeping judgement! Sad

OP posts:
curlymama · 03/12/2010 22:47

I'm with guitargirl.

You were unreasonable to even think that she was a cunt, you have no idea what's going on in her life at the moment. She could have been having an equally shit or worse day herself, she could have mh problems. There are plenty of reasons why someone might be pissed off with someone coming to their door and putting them in a position to have to say no to giving help. Especially when the problem could easily have been avoided by not going out in such harsh weather.

ShanahansRevenge · 03/12/2010 22:48

YANBU at all. She should have at least offered for you and the DCs to come inside and use her phone or whaever. The fucking cunt. I can't abide non community minded people.

ShanahansRevenge · 03/12/2010 22:49

Equally shit day r not when someone knocks on the door with 2 little kids and theyre stuck in the snow you help them. GOD people are self centred!

GotArt · 03/12/2010 22:49

OP did ask if there was anyone else in the household that could help her. She didn't come to the door surly. She politely asked. The reaction of the woman was uncalled for and that is what OP was referring to, in that she called this lady who has cooed at her children and happily waved to OP in the neighbourhood before.

ShanahansRevenge · 03/12/2010 22:51

Cumbrian...cunt is a fine word...there are far worse words than cunt. War and hate are bad words..cunt, cock, dick....all words for genitalia. Old ones too. Been around a lot longer than me....so I'm not going to balk at using them or get all prissy about kdis reading them...kids are not meant to read sites like this and MN is a site where people are allowed to express themselves.

Bookswapper · 03/12/2010 22:52

agree with shanahansrevenge...of course you would help if you knew two small children were stuck...FFS

GotArt · 03/12/2010 22:55

Hear Hear, SR

panettoinydog · 03/12/2010 22:59

SO you see no irony in bemoaning other people's self-centredness and lack of community spirit? No irony in calling them cunts who should have done this that and the other?

You sound really unpleasant.

Cumbrian07 · 03/12/2010 22:59

I am expresssing myself SR.

Cumbrian07 · 03/12/2010 22:59

panetto who are you referring to?
