DH has just told me that the ruomour mill says this: We didn't get it because the 2014 World Cup has been awarded to Brazil but Fifa do not think they will be ready in time so we have been earmarked as emergency back-up hosts because we already have the infrastructure in place and can pull it off at short notice after the Olympics. I have been to wembley and thought it was blardy awful and a disgrace as a national stadium espically with the disorganisation on getting out of the ground - 2 hours queing to get out..stupid nightmare and dangerous - whoever designed it wants shot

I'm proud of the way we went about it, but rather glad we didn't get it.

I live in Bristol, and they were/are going to rip up green belt in order to build a new stadium to hopefully accommodate the World Cup.

Since Bristol City are one of the worse football teams in the UK, and don't deserve a new stadium on their own merits, it would now seem that a small portion of our green and pleasant land will remain intact for a while longer.
