To be irritated that DH never gets his own excema cream

We're an excema family, both dcs and DH and I. The thing that annoys me is he never goes to the drs or even the chemist to get cream for himself; he always just pinches a bit of mine or the dcsHmm

I know it sounds petty and it's not the money, but it's his sense of entitlement, I find myself buying things I know he won't like because then he won't pinch them. He's always been like this using his sisters shampoo and what not, when he lived at home.

Would I be unreasonable to just hide it and say we've all run out?

I get DH to buy some personal stuff for me cos he has no sense of embarrassment Grin

Could he be the same but doesn't want to say?

But then why does he need to if he can nick yours? And what is it that bothers you about him nicking it?

MrManager · 02/12/2010 21:33

Have you actually asked him not to?

Part of marriage is sharing things, and unless you've explicitly told him not to, I don't think it's completely unreasonable for him to think this is Mummy and Daddy's eczema cream, rather than just Mummy's eczema cream.

does he have to buy his own toothpaste too?

MumNWLondon · 02/12/2010 21:36

I wouldn't have a problem with this. I buy most (apart from contact lenses stuff) of DH's toiletry stuff, usually on tesco shopping etc. I buy him the stuff thats on offer Smile and he never complains. He knows I would be cross if he used my deod if he ran out but don't really care about occasional shampoo/shower cream. I even buy zirtek even though he is the one with hayfever.

With respect to the eczema cream - surely its free if its the DCs but he has to pay for prescriptions? Why is this a problem unless he's using it at a rate that makes the GP suspicious.

Not really sure why this is a problem and find the sense of entitlement thing odd - we share finances etc and I have more time/inclination for shopping than him.

We have family eczema cream. What is the point of having 3 bottles sitting around when you can have one?
