To wish people would stop bloody moaning about a bit of snow

Seriously in London we get like 2 inches and everyones moaning, the news is full of exclamation marks in triangles and moaning about how are people going to get to work and talking to moaning idiots in the streets complaining that it's cold, (people wearing skinny jeans, fashion boots and normal winter jackets, idiots!).

Anyway too much moaning, too many idiots looking for any excuse to close schools and stay home, too many people who want to moan about it being too cold to go out instead of investing in some proper winter gear and letting some air out the tyres.

And why do we still put up with this countries reliance on out dated third rail systems that grind to a halt at the slightest thing, no one else in the world is still using that 80 odd year old system, they realised it was crap, so why are we still using it?.

I can't help but wonder why year after year we are like this, countries are laughing at us, nation full of lazy moaners.

oh ryoko, the irony. A big fat moany op.

You;re harshing my mellow, man.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/12/2010 15:45

Money Riven - money.

Although if you look at the news article linked to above \link{http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6B122920101202\here} you'll see that the snow has been disrupting road and rail journeys in France, Germany and Switzerland (among others...) so even they get it wrong (and poland)

Janos · 02/12/2010 15:54

Here's all that made up snow that isn't really affecting anybody.

Still, I expect the photo was faked by those people what done the moon landings and shot JFK, eh?

AmyFarrahFowler · 02/12/2010 15:58

Ryoko crikey, you have some anger issues going on there!!

Take a chill pill (love that expression, never get to use it!) or even better have a Biscuit

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/12/2010 15:58

\link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11895107\and look at the disruption that isn't being caused in Europe}

650km of traffic jams in Belgium

\link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-11897825\another article here detailing how well........or not other countries cope}

RockinRobinBird · 02/12/2010 16:04

You know what pisses me off more? The predictable moaner, whinging about other people whinging. If you're so damned proactive and willing to help then come down to me and dig me and DH out to the dr because we've been bedridden with a toddler in tow for over a week. We have feet of the stuff and are not far from London so it won't be a long journey. Unless you get stuck on the ungritted m25 for 8 hours like a lot of poor buggers I've heard this week.

Or you could just take your smuggery and fuck off, how's that?

Janos · 02/12/2010 16:08

That didn't happen Baroqin. The BeeBeeCee News-Fibbers are making it up because other countries are always perfectly prepared for freak weather conditions normal winter weather.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/12/2010 16:10

Grin Janos - I guess Reuters are fibbing too

if i had 2 inches i wouldnt be moaning

i have 12+inches and the snow is still falling and has been none stop for 48hrs

snow ruins everything - and all my friends who read my fb status's are envious and want snow - i wish it never came last weekend

dh cant work and is se, so wont be paid and very unlikely all snow will disappear next week, so thats 2 weeks of no salary, if not 3+ (plus the 5 weeks beginning of the year due to snow) so we have worries about paying the bills, plus all just before christmas so never works christmas week, so may as well write off all of december as dh having no wages Xmas Sad

car is totally snowed in ,and our road is unapproachable - i have trudged to local (ish) shop to try and get milk and bread - got neither as sold out and no lorries able to get there since tuesday - but did get part baked rolls which i gave some to our elderly neigbours who cant get out

i worry about my parents who live 6miles away but impossible to get to them and they are snowed in and i hope they have younger neighbours who offer to pick up stuff, rather than they attempt to go out - my mum wont go out as afraid she will slip and break her ankle as did before

we all moan about the snow because as usual the roads arent gritted, trains dont run/the shps run out of basic stuff and to top things off i cant get out to my 2 christmas partys tomorrow and friday - which have been paid for so out of pocket again

so i shall be drinking wine at home like a complete lush i am Xmas Grin

onceamai · 02/12/2010 16:25

Agreed Blondes. But we only have a couple of inches and boy moaning about that is nothing compared to dd who has just got home from school and found out that ds had the day off because his is in the opp direction and the roads going the other way were impassable. World War III breaking out here. She's in a strop at the bottom of the stairs - she hates me and he has just slammed his bedroom door.

Janos · 02/12/2010 16:28

Pfft. Reuters are WORSE Baroqin.

It's all a bit conspiracy by the giant lizard people to...ummm...make us think we are cold when we aren't.

DD is complaining bitterly about the lack of proper Sussex snow in the soggy west. Smile

SoupDragon · 02/12/2010 17:31

This is the gritting snowplough stuck in the light dusting of snow we have here.

bumperella · 02/12/2010 17:50

I wonder why, Ryoko, you are saying to people reading this "YOU are lazy...".... yet you live in an area which you are convinced has terrible public services?
Personally, I think our council does OK with winter weather: has the balance about right between keeping things running and not overspending. That's why I wouldn't complain to/about them; it's got nothing to do with apathy.

Incidentally, the rail infrastrucure and bus companies are not paid for by your council tax, so complaining about how much council tax you pay yet how rubbish the rail system is pretty illogical.

MummyBerryJuice · 02/12/2010 19:00

So, my friend in South Africa who can't get to Germany on her long planned holiday due to airport closures is also in on the conspiracy, Janos? Hmm

BonniePrinceBilly · 02/12/2010 19:04

I'M ALLOWED TO FUCKING MOAN! Angry

My DH is currently stranded 6okm from home, on a bus, in the back arse of nowhere stuck on a hill. With no food or fuck all heating.

I'll moan all I fucking like, so fuck right off.

Bobthebreadcrust · 02/12/2010 19:23

Over a foot of snow here....schools closed all week and not looking hopeful for next week!!!

You cant complain!!!

Pixel · 02/12/2010 19:24

OhYouBadBadKitten, please, please, tell me about snow socks. I only discovered such a thing existed yesterday when I got an email with an ad for them. I was thinking of getting some, do you think they are any good?

saorachd · 02/12/2010 19:25

I want to moan at the fact that it is minus 18 outside.

Fluteyboots · 02/12/2010 19:36

We have over a foot here, our road is impassable. People are helping each other, clearing roads and paths, pushing each other's cars, taking food round to neighbours.lazy moaners? I don't think so. If you want to meet some real, non-moaning, non-lazy, caring people, suggest you get out of London

Biscuit
MummyBerryJuice · 02/12/2010 19:52

Well said Flutey

agedknees · 02/12/2010 20:00

Was working in fracture clinic today. All the patients with broken bones caused by falling over in the snow/ice are allowed to moan about the bloody snow.
