Santa is usually pretty frugal round our house what with all the other children in the world getting presents too.
But this year we wanted to get them something special that they've been asking for for a while. A Wii.
We explained to them ages and ages ago that we could only afford a Wii if Mummy and Daddy worked really really hard and for that to happen then they would have to be good at school and nursery.
So now we want the credit, not Santa.
Is this a bit odd? AIBU?
Santa will continue with his usual delivery as usual I'm sure, but like I said no massively expensive gifts. Thinking of the elves.

How about they open the Santa things as usual, you wait for the chaos to die down and just as they are starting to get a bit bored, tell them you have a big surprise present from you and bring it out (having checked in advance that you know how to set it up real quick and have all the bits you need!)

That's what I had in mind. Yes, i want them to know that we've all had to earn a treat like that.

Just hope there's enough money left over for Santa's share in the glory.

i've already ordered it altinkum. thanks though. having borrowed a wii from friends who were away on holiday i've a fair idea of what we wanted.
will definitely go for 2nd hand games though.

my ds sees father christmas as a sort of magical postman. he knows that we buy most of the presents (the fat man does get a few little bits, but he's not made of money and he has to do it for all the other children) and as soon as we get home Jack Frost (as chief elf) whisks them away. in fact, ds was with me when I bought a playmobil set, we popped into mils for a cuppa because it was so cold and while ds and I were drinking our drinks JF came in and took the toy. ds went into the hall to show MIL his present and was perplexed to find it had gone.

he was an angel the rest of the day, because if JF can come during the day too that means he is being watched all the time.

oooh, in game they have this OOS online but they had it in our local store. and tesco have the wii party with extra remote for £28. bargain!
