while walking my kids to school there is a bit of pavement where cars have parked on the pavement, so there is only space for 2 people to walk side by side, for about 15 car lengths. this morning cause of the snow i was holding ds2's hand, he is only just 3, so needed to support!
a bloke behind me was huffing and puffing and trying to get me to move, but while i was on this particular part of pavement, i was not going to let go of ds2, the pavement was far to slippery and if he fell he would have prob hit the wall on one side or a car.
as soon as we got passed the cars, i stopped, so the guy could go infront.
he shouted, cant you tell some people are in a hurry, so of us have a job to go to. we cant faff about like you. bloody people with kids, think you own the world.
i chose to ignore him.
he then walked on about 10 mtrs, and fell flat on his arse.
so, was i being unreasonable to walk past and say, well, that got you far didnt it? hope you have a good day at work. then smile and walk on, ahead of him, while he tried to get up?

Ooh, that was a bit mean. I always try to remember that you never know what's going on in people's lives when strangers are rude.

Still funny though Xmas Grin

pjmama · 02/12/2010 09:17

Serves him right.

OutOutLetItAllOut · 02/12/2010 09:18

ah,
mean maybe, but if id helped him, id have had to let go of the kids. and there was no way i was putting him b4 them, esp as he was rude to be.

Helped him up?? I would have laughed my ass off. How dare he speak to you like that in front of your kids? Serves him right.

PhishFoodAddiction · 02/12/2010 09:19

YANBU - I just laughed too!!! Xmas Grin

NormaSknockers · 02/12/2010 11:33

Xmas Grin I chuckled too, serves him right for being so rude. He could have asked politely if he could squeeze past as he was in rather a hurry!

mumbar · 02/12/2010 11:35

Oh Xmas Grin.

Probably Envy on his behalf because his boss had made him go into work and he wanted to stay home. Not a reason to be rude tho - and yes, I'd have laughed.

BangingNoise · 02/12/2010 11:36

WOuldn't it have been polite to let him pass if you knew he was trying to rush?
He was rude to you, though, so I guess it's karma.

togarama · 02/12/2010 11:39

YANBU. Serves him right.

It was also ignorant of him to assume that just because someone has a child they don't have anything to do with the rest of their day! Some parents have to walk toddlers to nursery and then go to work too.

slimyak · 02/12/2010 11:39

I love it when the universe rights minor wrongs so immediately. YANBU I think I might have been tempted to give him a cheesy wink as I passed him flailing on the floor.

lazarusb · 02/12/2010 12:40

I would have been tempted to say 'I thought you were in a rush? But you have time for a lie-down...?' then laughed uncontrollably.
Well, I wouldn't, because I am too nice but I would definitely have thought it Xmas Grin

ChippingIn · 02/12/2010 12:47
