11 minute track in our excercise class with the lyric "Blow my Whistle Bitch" featuring loudly a number of times. Not a prude but I am a feminist, was I right to suggest to teacher that she might want to consider a different track?

What! I would be Angry if that did not read so funny!

Blow my whistle bitch! I suggest you get everyone in the class to shout it out at the top of their voice when that bit comes on!

It's not ok to have that in a public class!

stretchmummy · 01/12/2010 22:24

I did ask a few people in the class and they didn't like it. As I said, its the "bitch" bit that bothers me, its all adults in the class.

DJ Alligator - Blow My Whistle (Bitch)

"Blow my whistle bitch
Blow my whistle bitch
Blow my whistle bitch
Blow my whistle bitch

Open up put it in,
Lets begin.

Blow my whistle bitch

Blow it like u mean it (Blow)
Blow it like you mean it
You dont mean it
Blow it like you mean it
You dont mean it"

How charming.

Yanbu

if people like that sort of music, that's their choice but isn't really appropriate for an exericise class

stretchmummy · 01/12/2010 22:32

The teacher (Bless her!) said she didn't really pay attention to the lyrics. It's just a club track.

MerrilyDefective · 01/12/2010 22:32

Did she agree to change it?

This time i agree with you MrManager.Smile

stretchmummy · 01/12/2010 22:43

I will see what she does next class, having seen the full lyrics I think she will have to change it if she hasn't already.

yuk, that's horrid. quite right to ask for it to be switched for something more generally appropriate :)

BonniePrinceBilly · 01/12/2010 22:51

Its not appropriate for anything.

Turn it off or lead a walk out!

pointydog · 01/12/2010 22:57

lol

I am finding this image funny

YANBU

I was not happy when I had to do boxercise to that Rude Boy song by Rihanna :(

thenightsky · 01/12/2010 23:00

God... does she realise what it means? Confused

thenightsky · 01/12/2010 23:00

Bup... that rude boy song is vile

bupcakesandcunting · 01/12/2010 23:06

It is. It's so sexually aggressive. I quite like Rihanna though so was a bit disappointed by her.

TacticalNameChange · 02/12/2010 00:21

Oh god, I remember dancing to that on e when I was younger and loving it. But since I have grown up, done some research and 'come out' as feminist I agree you need to say something.

I suppose it does have a good rhythm but the lyrics are indefensible there is no shortage of workout tracks so if you are paying for this session you need to have your say; it's mysongynistic and off-putting!

TacticalNameChange · 02/12/2010 00:22

*without the spelling and grammar mistakes obv.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/12/2010 00:41

god - I'm generally pretty laid back about these things but that song is vile

(just looked at the Rude Boy lyrics for example and am not bothered by them isn't she saying "I want to shag you tonight - do you think you've got what it takes" - which I guess makes me a shit feminisit or something) but really what the f*ck was the teacher thinking when she chose that track!!!
