We have lived in this house for just over 17 months and all in all it's a really nice area despite being council owned, one thing is really pissing me off though and yes you've guessed it it's next doors bloody tom cat!! I have found it clawing it's way into my house through the windows to get at my three house cats and last night i caught the little shit in my outhouse peeing over the clean washing i had just put on the airers.

How would you guys deal with this as with it being a cat i know they have different laws to dogs as regards what owners are expected to do. I have had a few problems with next door neighbours (owners of said cat) banging on the walls at just gone nine o clock to turn our telly down which surely if it were that loud it would wake my kids asleep upstairs before bothering them next door but that is another matter all together.

I guesss i'm just after a bit of advice and needed a bit of a rant. I dont mind if i get told to get a life as i know there are bigger problems but last night was the final straw.

shoot it....... only kidding. It would drive me a bit potty though.

faverolles · 30/11/2010 22:25

Get a super soaker water pistol and squirt it at the cat.
It won't hurt it, but should teach the cat that it's not welcome at your house.
Have an old washing up liquid bottle filled with water on hand as well for close range encounters, then you won't hurt the cat.

Please, not water. Not in this weather. :(

HairyMclary1979 · 30/11/2010 22:36

Rest asured Timothy i will not be doing this for the simple fact i tried several times during the summer months and realised i'm such a crap aim it's not worth me trying again.

faverolles is right.
Neighbours cat can go home to dry off.
Use warm water if your bothered.

What would you suggest Timothy?

DiscoDaisy · 30/11/2010 22:44

My neighbours cat used to sit and play with the water that was sprayed at it. He thought it was great fun! Grin

I do feel a bit sorry for the poor animal though as it's left out in all wethers, when it was roasting hot in the summer i found it wandering round outside trying to find water and i saw it sat out yesterday meowing on the window sill for a good two hours while the neighbours were at home.

Hairy, take it to the vets stating you think it is a stray!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 01/12/2010 08:22

I offer you nine. Next door have nine of the bastards, we have found a device that detects motion and sends out a high frequency noise deters them enough. that, and a supersoaker and some well aimed potatoes.

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/12/2010 08:27

Can suggest that if they're knocking on your walls about your TV then it must be too loud! I would guess that the speakers are very close to the wall and that the sound/reverberations are going through into their room.

But re the cat have you tried talking to your neighbours about it?

Can't you lock your outhouse/windows to stop it coming in?

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 01/12/2010 09:25

MrsTed !!! Shock

Ommmmmmmmmmmm, that's baaaaddddddddddd !!

Islandlady · 01/12/2010 09:41

you say your own cats are house cat by that I presume they dont need your garden if thats the case there are certain pellets and granules that deter cats - some even have Lions Poo as an ingredient.

My next door neighbour put some in hers to deter the cats and my cat wont set foot in there now, he used to sit in her garden and sun himself - now he runs across the fence at the bottom and wont go into her garden at all.

You can get it in pets stores or garden centres.

How did the punishment of the Wheelie bin woman get?

HairyMclary1979 · 01/12/2010 11:21

The telly is the opposite end of the dividing wall, we dont have surround sound just the speakers on the tv it's self which isn't a huge tv just a 19 inch one but like i said thats a different issue.

I leave the door and window of my outhouse open as it has the drier in and if i dont the walls and ceiling get condensation on them and as you can guess with electrical equipment in there it's be plain dangerous. They do get shut at night so that our belongings dont get stolen but during the day it stays open.

I haven't talked to them yet as i worried once i start having a rant i'll not be able to stop.
