somewhere that isn't actually my fault. I mean I'm not powerful so I can't be to blame for everything I just can't. I know I am a shit who doesn't deserve to live but everything?

Well, if you ask my DH, everything is my fault. So you can't be responsible for everything.

Can you give any examples of things which are "your fault"? I'm sure we can bring to bear some MNanalysis!

I've had to change my name for this story, as it outs me to some people in RL, but your drunken mother ironing made me laugh, as it reminded me of one of my host mothers in Russia, who had no steam iron. She had instead a teeny teacup of water by the foot of her ironing board and sprayed the water over my sheets by - guess what - spitting. I was initially horrified, but this was one of the things which turned the nightmare of living with her into a secret chortle. The other moment was her Morning Death Toll (plane crashes were her favourite), which one day involved this story: "A hundred thousand Chinese people died when their building blew up!" Not only was this soooo OTT that it was almost funny, she didn't, somehow, believe that foreigners really existed (dunno how she managed to compass my Johnny Foreigner existence), so it couldn't have been real to her, either, and I could only imagine she was gratuitously winding herself up about a fictitious event.

It seems really ruthless to learn to laugh at people who are doing their best to make your life hard, but I really hope you manage it. The examples you give are those of people who need a good kick up the arse for being selfish and twattish. Good luck!
