She rang just as I got in late today and was trying to dish up tea and told me she had got a top for DD1, and that she had found a rat climbing up her loo. At 3am.

I had to go and sort dd's out for tea but promised I would call he back after they were in bed.
But.

I really do not want to hear about rats climbing up loos in the night.

So, aibu? SHoudl I call? Or wuss out!

Call her tomorrow.

After all parenthood is knackering, and by the time you get the dc to bed, sort out the dishes, the kitbag, the pack lunches, feed dp and yourself...it's quite reasonable that you go slump and forget.

My mum often calls at exactly the wrong time. Unless I know it's something urgent, I call back when it's comfortabl for me to do so.

Mums! We'll never be like that, will we?! Wink

You're a meanie! Call her back, she wants to whinge about her rat infested house!

MardyBra · 29/11/2010 19:04

if you promised, call her back. But say that you've only got xx minutes because you've got xyz (whatever excuse) to do.

Ilythia · 29/11/2010 19:56

Oh of course I was going to call her back. I just didn't want to!
I love my mum!

Although....I could have happily gone about my life not knowing that rats can and do climb up and out of your loo in the night, and it's not just an urban myth...Shock

She ended up calling the police at 4am as she was freaking out when she saw it run across her sitting room floor(she lives alone). Can't say I blame her tbh, and by all accounts the policeman was lovely calming her down and helping her out, but stillShock

She is going to bed tonight with a plank of wood and a brick on top of the loos now.
