AIBU to consider you to be very rude, AIBU to not care if your mobile has a missed call from my number?

ooohh - sounds ominous. What did you say?

YANBU though, why should you have to confirm who you are!?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/11/2010 11:29

Not at all unreasonable.

If people ring my number and demand to know who I am, I say "you called me. If you don't know who I am, you obviously dialled the wrong number." and I put the phone down.

sunchild77 · 27/11/2010 11:31

She was very aggressive!! She said she had just woken up and had a missed call from me, and who was I?!! Well I had no idea what she was on about, so I didnt tell her my name, I had no idea who she was!! Im always wary of people asking for my personal details like that! Most probably my DS 3yrs called her number randomly, whilst playing with the house phone, but I didnt tell her that.

She eventually said her name was Amanda and that rings no bells with me at all...

I just was annoyed by her demanding attitude!

She sounded quite rude but then if she had been woken by a nuicance call I can imagine why she was annoyed.

YABU to not care that your number phoned someone and upset them.

Mumcentreplus · 27/11/2010 11:34

erm ..what a rude-arse she probably got the number wrong!...I would be tempted to call her back and tell her she needs to work on her attitude!

HalfTermHero · 27/11/2010 11:38

At being asked 'who are you?' my respose would be 'More to the point, who are YOU?'. I would not give out my info to a random stranger phoning my house. I would only confirm my details if the person on the other end was someone that I recognised.

the joys- i once went to meet a friend at a zoo and wrote her number down slightly wrongly. i sent her texts saying-"i'm waiting in the usual place"- "hope you can still make it" "have you got caught up?"

the following day i had a screaming haridan on the phone accusing me of have an affair with her dh.

i actually texted back and explained that i had the wrong number in my phone and was meeting a friend with our kids at the zoo. i got a few more texts but these finished when i pointed out that if her marraige was so rocky she chose not to beleive me and use this as evidence that was her problem.

to this day i feel terrible for her hubby though

'YABU to not care that your number phoned someone and upset them.'

How the heck can your number phone someone on it's own?..poltergeist?Grin

LadyViper · 27/11/2010 11:42

Yeah she should have been polite to you, and started with telling YOU who SHE is!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 27/11/2010 11:43

Actually risingstar I'm sleeping with that woman's DH. Sorry you took the flack.

Grin Grin
gorionine · 27/11/2010 11:44

same as TattyDevine

Mumcentreplus · 27/11/2010 11:48

Sorry but the moment the woman was rude was the moment empathy flew out the window..

AllarmBelly · 27/11/2010 11:49

Don't most phones just have a redial button? She wouldn't have got the number wrong, just done 1471 then 3, or selected the missed call and pressed Redial.

I'm with Tatty - your DS is randomly ringing numbers and waking people up, but these people should be polite when they call you to ask what's going on? The one who dials the wrong number in the first place should be polite - and in this case it looks like that is you. YABU.

sunchild77 · 27/11/2010 11:58

risingstar thats awful!!

tatty and gorionine Id have been full of apologies if she hadnt taken aggressive tone with me. There was no need to be rude like that. Also it was late in the morning, about 10.30 ish hardly the middle of the night. - Oh yes I do appreciate that she could have been nightshift or her cat just died, whatever.

Oh and I dont know for sure it was DS, Im just guessing Allarm In fact I was perfectly polite to her when she called, I told her I had no idea who she was or why her number was called. It could have been DH, and he's not here. Unlike the caller, I do not take an aggressive manner with people I know.
