Been married 15 years. He's currently creating a starter with masses of walnuts sprinkled over it. I asked if I could perhaps have just a few. "Why?" he asks.
"Well, erm, I don't actually like them," I reply.
"Oh? Since when?" he says.

WTF???? I have always LOATHED nuts - no allergy, just dislike taste. And what's more, he's heard me rant about my mother who also pleads ignorance about my dislike and that's after 47 years much longer.

Well? AIBU???

YANBU -dh is well aware of my dislikes and would make an alternative for me- my mum confuses mine with my brother, but then I've not lived with her for 17 years!

pjmama · 26/11/2010 19:21

DH brought me a hot dog with mustard recently. I despise mustard and have never put it on any hot dog or any other food I've eaten in his presence in the 15 years we've been together. He's just oblivious to the small details!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/11/2010 19:25

My husband bought me a matching bracelet, watch and earings once.

My ears aren't pierced. Haven't been since years before I met him. Since I was a kid in fact.

I do not understand how he could not be aware of the fact that I do not have pierced ears. [boggle]

blackeyedsusan · 26/11/2010 19:40

oh no. thought it would get better, but it seems i shouldn't hold out much hope for that then.

why?

headfairy · 26/11/2010 19:43

My dad still asks me if I want coffee when I go round to their house after 40 many years of not drinking coffee. Can't stand the stuff DAD!!! ARGH!

JennyPiccolo · 26/11/2010 19:44

My DP didn't know i take sugar in my coffee till yesterday.

Hullygully · 26/11/2010 19:46

yanbu

kill him

SuePurblybiltByElves · 26/11/2010 19:50

Hully speaks sense. What future can there be for you?

Riddo · 26/11/2010 20:08

My dh still puts chilli in food even though it makes my stomach hurt badly. He always says the same thing "It's hotter than I thought it would be". We've been married for nearly 19 years!!!

jugglingjo · 27/11/2010 18:37

My DH sometimes makes food so spicy I can't eat it !

AAARGH !

It always looks so good, and it's always when I'm so hungry !

ToothpasteMakesMeGag · 27/11/2010 19:40

DH hates butter/marg in sandwiches. I have NEVER put it in his and we have been together 16 yrs.

He STILL peels back the bread to make sure.... grrrrrrr

perfumedlife · 27/11/2010 19:59

YABU He is creating a starter, that would please me no end. Dh can't make toast here.

Mumcentreplus · 27/11/2010 20:04

Ahhh I feel your pain but don't be too hard on him..

LoudRowdyDuck · 27/11/2010 20:06

Oh dear, I do this sort of thing to DH all the time. I would never admit to him, but I think it's because my ex left me and DH came along very soon after so occasionally, even though DH is lovely and ex is a wanker, I do get mixed up about which of them likes which food. Blush

Am I a terrible wife then?

MumNWLondon · 27/11/2010 20:07

Dh can't remember anything.... eg that our baby has a bottle of milk at 10.30am even though he has looked after the baby every sunday morning since birth and ds2 now 7 months.

Have no idea how he managed to hold down well paid job.

CuddlyNemesis · 27/11/2010 20:12

You think that's bad? I'm 40 and my mum STILL asks me if I want a cup of tea/a mint and I've hated both since early childhood! Not to mention, I tell her EVERY time she asks! Hmm

onimolap · 27/11/2010 20:25

I'm the guilty one here: it took me 5 years to notice DH doesn't like Marmite.

Igglybuff · 27/11/2010 20:40

Yanbu
