To expect the company I ordered DH's christmas present off not to email HIM about it?

Bloody furious. Ordered something for DH for christmas (guitar pedal) from an online store I know he has ordered in the past. Now I set up a new account, using my details, my email address etc. I received the receipt - then they sent him an email with all the tracking details including what's in the parcel. WTF? Angry

Major complaint! YADNBU!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/11/2010 15:30

That is dreadful! Hope they are going to be giving you a big discount?

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:11

I have sent the sales dept a snotty email. DH thinks it's funny Hmm

NeverEatYellowTaintedSnow · 26/11/2010 16:13

I would be bloody furious if I were you. I'd be expecting a discount and a written apology tbh. Aside from the present reveal, they have given your details to someone else, doesn't matter that it's your DH.

Definitely complain.

TrillianAstra · 26/11/2010 16:14

How could that possibly happen? Their database shouldn't allow it. Even if it's the same address, you could be new peope who have moved to that house.

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:16

I have no bloody idea. It's annoying, particularly because I was going to give him the idea I'd 'forgotten' to buy him anything grrr, then surprise him.

ENormaSnob · 26/11/2010 16:17

Yanbu

I would be livid.

DanceInTheDark · 26/11/2010 16:18

argh WMMC - i am looking at guitar pedals for my DH! WHich place is it from? I am not sure there is a place online that he hasn't ordered from Confused

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:22

Andertons. Perhaps they will be more circumspect if you send them an email first. Who knows?

OP posts:
ENormaSnob · 26/11/2010 16:27

On a positive note wmmc, I checked out your pics as per the thread in chat and must say you are really bloody gorgeous!

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:28

Thanks ENormaSnob (great name btw) do feel rather like an item in Pedlars now, held up for examination and subtle ribbing by a thousand mumsnetters Wink

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:29

DanceintheDark - what are you after btw, I can probably recommend somewhere to get it cheap?

Hassled · 26/11/2010 16:30

Oh my word I want your house and I want it NOW!

YANBU, by the way.

DanceInTheDark · 26/11/2010 16:31

ah i hadn't heard of them before. (phew!) I am just googling about a bit at the mo until i can properly investigate the studio guitar sanctuary gig bag!

ALso got a guitarist friend on fb that i can fire silly Qs at!

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:32

Ah, well DH has about a zillion pedals so feel free to PM me and I can ask him if one is good or not. I've ordered one of these:

DanceInTheDark · 26/11/2010 16:33

thanks WMMC. DH does too but there are always more aren't there?!

(we keep meeting up on threads like these - i had to name change i am not a stalker lol!)

OpheliaBumps · 26/11/2010 16:41

Surely that's a breach of the data protection act? What if it had been a gift for your secret lover, not your husband (not that I'm suggesting you've got a secret lover of course) Wink

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 16:46

I think I know who you used to be DITD - don't worry I won't out you! Wink Well at least guitar pedals are (mostly) small. He's bought DS a Hornby railway (for a 2 year old! Hmm for christmas) and I fear he'd quite like to have it going round the garden. So I'm encouraging the buying of pedals instead!

Ophelia - you are right on that - I'm quite cross.

ChaoticChristmasAngelCrackers · 26/11/2010 18:17

"He's bought DS a Hornby railway (for a 2 year old! hmm for christmas)"

That's what he's claiming is it, that it's for DS? Grin

YANBU btw It's got to be a breach of the data protection act at least.

Niceguy2 · 26/11/2010 18:20

Was the company a big one or a little one who is likely to be doing stuff manually.

YANBU but as problems go, its not something to go nuclear about. Probably a simple cock up somewhere.

whomovedmychocolate · 26/11/2010 18:55

Small I think Niceguy2 - I know it's a cock up. I'm just pissed off because it seems like they are deferring to my husband because I'm too stupid to need to be told about my own sodding parcel grrr.

OP posts:
DanceInTheDark · 27/11/2010 11:46

WMMC - my DH is also a studio dweller Grin and Hmm
hornby rail track?! bloody hell - mine have got thomas track lol!!

festivefriedawhingesagain · 27/11/2010 11:52

YANBU. I had something similar with Lastminute - booked a surprise weekend away and they sent the tickets to him. I emailed them back - to point out that I was the customer...apparently because his name was before mine alphabetically the tickets were sent to him. I was livid, they didn't give a shit.

And 2 weeks ago, DH was sent the new credit cards. It's my account, he is an additional cardholder only. I will be cancelling them. Opus - you are shit.

I wonder whether is sexist twaddle, or just admin cock ups. But I would be asking to a gesture to make up for it.

whomovedmychocolate · 27/11/2010 19:42

Mine have now got Thomas trains on a Hornby track Hmm

Wandaaa · 27/11/2010 20:12

A couple of years ago, I booked a weekend away with National holidays. I booked it and paid for it from my bank account. When we got to the hotel they let everyone off the bus in alphabetical order to book in. We ended up getting off the bus last as they had DP's name as party lead and his surname begins with a Y. It's not the sort of thing you can complain about without coming over as a nutter but I was not bloody amused.
