Neighbours Smoke coming through

Tadeusz · 25/11/2010 15:04

I' m not sure how many other people have had this problem but I am sure I can't be the only one. I'd like to share this with anyone who suffers from smoke coming through walls. The environmental health department cannot stop anyone from smoking in their own home, however, I was told that if I could prove that the smoke coming through was dangerous to us or my unborn child they may be able to argue with the owners of my neighbors property (in my case the HA)that they should seal in the smoke. It seems that they do not recognize the smoke as anything but a bad smell.
I am currently gathering evidence to shove... sorry put before many agencies and will happily share this info with anyone who is interested. I respect my neighbors right to self harm and poison her kids, but I refuse to allow my family to be harmed through their stupidity. Am I being unreasonable? I really don't think so!

I've already reported her, as have many others. They show up for a few months then disappear once they have ticked their boxes. My solicitor said that most agencies are afraid of her, not sure why really. It is very hard to get help with these situations, I suspect that it is easier and cheaper for SS to keep her and the kids where they are. Her life hasn't been easy and I do sympathize, but who has had it easy?

I don't mind cooking smells, I do get annoyed with the shouting and swearing, but its a bit like listening to a TV soap. The one thing I cannot cope with is smoking. It actually doesn't take very much to cause ill health. Smoking is like playing Russian Roulette, the next particle could be the one to cause cancer etc.

Am waiting for response from Building regs, and we are going to try some more fire retardant expanding foam (If we can get behind the water tank). Running it under the floorboards against the wall can help.

The name Tadeusz is from a famous heroic character, Pan Tadeusz:)Hope that answers your question Winnybella.

Well, It's Friday and it's cold, and at least I have a home to hide in.

Litwo, ojczyzno moja...

Oh, yes, I do know that one...

Well, hope you'll manage to find a way to resolve the problem.
